“Mama! Mama!”
Crysanthemum turned her head, placing a scroll she’d been reading on the counter and looking at the small child who ran towards her, a glint of excitement in her eyes, her Cerise curls waving around her face as she came up, smiling.
“Look, look what I can do!” Her hands were outstretched. palms facing the goblin, who’s eyes widened when a dull, but very present light became exposed over her hands. Crysanthemum leaned down and placed a hand on her child’s back, watching the light emanate from her palms.
“Dess!” Crysanthemum called, looking over her shoulder. “You need to come here!” The tall blood elf walked in, recognizing the tone his wife was giving, and looked over to see the warm light engulfing his daughter. His smile grew and he rushed over, embracing his daughter. She giggled and the light extinguished. She pouted.
“Dad! You made me lose it!” She jutted out her bottom lip, while Crysanthemum and Dessicus both chuckled lightly.
“Here,” Crysanthemum said, wrapping her hand around her daughter’s lightly, smiling as she willed the light around it, creating an aura of warmth. The small child’s eyes lit up as she watched it glow and swirl around her hand. Dessicus followed her example, letting the Light thrum through to his hand and holding it over hers.
“This,” Crysanthemum said gently. “Is what it feels like to be blessed by the light.” She looked up at Dessicus, who’s eyes were already on her, and she smiled, the warmth thrumming through her heart, and her very veins.

Crysanthemum’s eyes opened, lethargically, almost slowly. The dim light of the inn had no effect on her vision, and she sat up, shaking her head, her glowing blue eyes scanning the room reflexively.
Dreams were for the living.
