So, I had this crazy idea of revisiting AFL. I noticed that it had been a while since the last AFL tournament, and I was looking at doing something a bit different for the next Deviant Universe summer crossover event. I contacted AngelCrusher (creator of AFL) and gave him my pitch for the next AFL tournement, but this time, make it part of the Deviant Universe. AC agreed, and from there, we both worked together at making Planet AFL a reality.Since I didn't have enough time to work on the intro pages myself, I asked Gaston25 if he would be interested in illustrating the pages for us. Gaston agreed and I think he did a fantastic job! With minor edits from AC, what you see before you is a collaboration that sets the stage for our latest summer crossover event...PLANET AFL!

Does this mean that the characters fighting in this tournament must've already fought at some point in the past? Because none of my characters fit the bill.

I'm sure mja42x will explain, but no, you don't need to have entered an AFL before. Like MadMonkeyDane mentions, it's been 1000 years gone, any character could have entered then, but I think it's also just grabbing other potential great characters from the past to make good entertainment. ๐

I hope that it's the latter, because if I have to go through any of my character's timelines to have them enter this type ofย tournament either in their past or future in addition to entering the tournament now, I think I'd get a head ache trying to figure it all out.

They easily could fit the bill though. It has been 1000 years between now & this AFL anything could've happened. I guess the combatants aren't pulled just from our time either but from any point in history

But that means that my characters have to have entered at some point before now (or after?). So when they enter the arena this time, are they going to remember entering before, or are they coming as first timers?

I guess that would depend on you really. I'm entering Slayer myself who has never entered a past AFL (because he didn't exist during the last 1) & I'm kind of wilfully ignoring that fact.
