This never actually happened to Joanna but I was inspired by a Clyde Caldwell painting called "Princess in Peril". I'm not too terribly happy with the way I drew Joanna's body but this was done some time ago and I'd like to think my skill has gotten better since then. I mean, it's *close* to what Joanna's figure is supposed to look like but there are some things about it that bug me and I don't know what it is.In this pic Joanna was bathing in a stream when she heard a company of orcs coming her way. She tried to get out of the water and sneak away but they came out of the woods sooner than she expected, and so, with no where to go, she hid behind the nearest tree hoping they wouldn't spot her. This never actually happened in Joanna's history.

Wow, I think it's awesome! She is gorgeous, and I love the situation. It's bad enough that she's in danger, but the fact that she's naked just adds embarrassment to the mix. Looks like she's been discovered though, so her day is going from bad to worse. Great job on the orcs, I like the way they're intently looking around.

I love this take on Princess in Peril. I still have my copy of a calendar that it was in (1984 I think). It would be interesting to see what you could do with the same concept now that you have more experience.

Yeah, Princess in Peril was always one of my favorite paintings. Caldwell sure does know how to draw women. Naturally, his work has been an inspiration.

This has been one of my favourite D&D images since I first ran across it when you posted it on Elfwood years ago (before you 'flipped' it to have Joanna on the right). I still have a framed large-format print of it hanging on one wall of my game room.

Those are totally old school Caldwell Orcs if ever i've seen them... Its funny because i'm looking at the image & my brain is developing dialogue for it. The orc on the right says to the orc whose loking at him "Hey Dave, do tree's usually have boobs?"
I know, its funny, right? An orc named Dave. LOL
