Description With my wife being in the hospital and here weekly doctor's appointments since she got out of the hospital, I suddenly realized that I have NOT really drawn anything in weeks...or is it months?
I started to do some sketches for a long over due commission piece today and learned just how rusty I had become. Really BAD!.
So I decide to get warmed up. I just started doodling, and tried to get back in the swing. This is one of the THINGS that came of this exercise. A squid...far from anatomically correct, I use no reference, I just sketched it out quickly in pencil and then started inking. It's drawn on a sheet of scrap-booking paper with a scrubbed distressed wall sort of finish. I thought it looked like it was under the sea. It felt good to be drawing again and with no pressure to do something for $$$. I think it helped. Inked with Faber-Castell india ink brush pen.

Looks suitably squidly and squishy. Nice loose brushwork.

Those FC brush pens are quite nice to work with.

We could tell how large he is if Cap'n Nemo would drive his sub by. Giant squids were never that giant. But who knows what lurks....twenty thousand leagues under the sea!

Squid ink can be used to make a very tasty sauce.

Well done, makes me think of 's work. Also makes me think of those Lovecraftian pulp novels.

I am a fan of Lovecraft, so perhaps the squid grew out of that somehow.
Thanks for pointing Zage 56 out! I like his work Mucho Mas! I will be watching.

Yeah, probably. Then again, tentacles are very fun and relaxing to draw from time to time.

He's a friend of mine, I like his inking. There's something different about his work.
