Description
This is my half of a trade with my friend Cheeb [link] She requested a recently saved from death by snake venom Richard Aiken sharing a quiet moment with his savior Rebecca Chambers in the medical supply room.I took the angle directly from screen shots of the room except I pushed the image forward so that we could see Richard sitting on the old bed in the room as Rebecca cleans and dresses his wounds.
I decided to combine some of the details from Richard's original look (the knee pads) with the stuff shown on him from Umbrella Chronicles like his shotgun holster since I think it ties his uniform together better and makes it look a bit more special forces/SWAT.

I think it was stated in the original game booklet that all the STARS with the exception of Rebecca either had prior military or police service and all of them were chosen by Wesker personally for the team when he formed the Raccoon City branch of STARS. Barry and Enrico were former SWAT team members in Raccoon City, Chris was former Air Force, Forest Speyer was a former Airborne Ranger sniper, Joseph Frost was possibly a Navy SEAL or former SWAT, I was never clear on which.
Most of their jobs in STARS or positions like "omni man" or "point man" were all modeled off of SWAT and Special Forces units. So it's a safe bet Richard was former military considering he was using a combat shotgun on his final mission and he manned a pretty complicated communications set in the STARS office.Β

And Kenneth was hired because of his expertise in biochemistry, holding a Ph.D's degree in that field. No where it is stated that he would have military experience nor prior police force experience. And Barry was a former airman serving with Chris Redfield as well. It is uncertain which branch Forest did serve but he was a trained marksman. Joseph Frost was officially formerly with Navy Seals.Β
The SWAT at least has similar positions in their team composition. That's my bet on him. Someone made a character analysis of Brad Vickers, stating that he should've been with the army to get the helicopter pilot's certification. He was also computer expert. I think that he held a degree in computer science of some sort for to qualify as such, maybe completing this degree even before military.

In the original PS1 Resident Evil game booklet it has mini bios of each STARS member. So it is stated in this booklet that Kenneth was a former chemist with a PHD who is a talented field scout officer which is another way of stating he was a former armored cavalry scout in the US Army which also makes him trained in recon. If he has a PHD in chemistry then he most likely used the GI Bill to pay for his college education while he was serving in the army.
It's never been stated Barry was a former airman. In the original booklet Barry is listed as Chris's friend and partner on the STARS team. He's a former SWAT team member with over 16 years experience who led many successful missions. Barry helped recruit Chris into STARS after Chris was kicked out of the USAF.
The tattoo on Forest's arm, the one with the wings and swordΒ is an Airborne Ranger tattoo. Besides being sniper he's listed as the vehicle specialist, both things he would be trained for in the US army.Β
I've always guessed Brad is former Air Force or Army since he still wears the old style Vietnam era jungle boots and camo pants as part of his uniform. Not that he's old enough to have served in 'Nam but his character's look seems to be partially based on that era's style. And again with the GI Bill he could take courses in computer science and information gathering which is what the booklet says his skill sets are.Β

Yeah since no matter what you do in the original Richard will always die in the hallway. The only reason to get him the serum in the original is so he lives long enough to give you his radio.
In Chris's scenario he is eaten by Neptune but according to Umbrella Chronicles, the "official story" is he dies by Yawn while saving Jill. At this point they retcon so much shit in the game I've adopted the idea that none of it happened in the right sequence
