My word, how do I begin this? I simply love the vision you've put into this. How we, human beings, like to simply gaze at those blue skies. The most interesting thing about your picture is that not only can contemplate the skies and sun, but also the threes surrounding the area. I like how you put it in the classical black & white. It gives you that feeling of picturesque and let's remember for old times sake. To complete the whole frame, what I would wish the most is just sit there and read with a book. Very well done.

When one takes a picture of a tree, I think the first problem is to get a good point of view on it.
As a matter of fact, what we have here is a beautiful diving view on the birch tree, and thus I love the perspective.
I don't think that what makes this shot amazing is the originality of the subject (after all we only have a basic forest), but the way Mitch played with the light (the star shining brightly, the halo around it: it was indeed shrewd to centre on it).
It also stresses on the leaves and makes it stand out of the composition.
Last success here, the black and white induces what seems to be a striking contrast.
So, to put it in a nutshell: great work !

While this art is incredible, it lacks originality. Everyone does pictures of plants, basically making plant pictures the base of deviantART. But the black and white part is somewhat original, showing the stark beauty of nature at its simplest. It's at a great angle, bringing new meaning to the phrase, " Seeing the world at a different angle." You have potential, and a very good eye for the wonder of nature, where you can find anything with a simple snapshot. Great job overall, just, next time, do something more out of the blue! Keep up the great work, you're doing great.

I love these trees, but we don't get to see whole stands of such mature specimens here in south east England where the birch grows mixed in with pine or with other deciduous trees, often on stoney heath land where it can't sink it's roots very deep.

Wow. Simply beautiful, mjohanson! The contrast is perfect on everything, especially the tree trunk extending upward from the foreground, and the leaves against the sky. And I love the thin cresting flare from the sun. Truly magnificent.

This piece caught my eye in the DD's today. I love monotone pics. Color is wonderful, don't get me wrong. I'm a colorful person, but sometimes, black and white can just speak in so much more volume. The effects in this image, the low angle and the placement f everything is just so superb and it feels so timeless.
The tree in the foreground feels a little awkward but it's not because of the picture itself but something about my own perception. Like I keep wanting to see it a liiiiiiiiiitle more placed to the right. But, nature isn't precise, so my OCD perception of it is pretty much a nuissance.
I DO also like how the season is not entirely clear. Like it feels springy, but you look at it and you aren't completely sure if it's a cool day or a warmer day, leaving, at least ME, in a sense of " I dunno if I should be wearing a jacket, or if I'd be sitting underneath the tree on a picnic spread in a tee shirt." It's very comforting and broad in its simplicity.
