Model is (I think her dimensions in this corset are 36-20-36...)I was talking with a friend about photographing corsets (how to best represent them visually, etc) for a website. And, since I had a model coming who can tight-lace I thought it'd be good to do an experiment or two. In this case I wanted to contrast the amplified corset-curves with the linears in the column. It's not a good shot for a commercial purpose, though, because you really can't get any appreciation for the details in the corset.
Lighting: gridded spot on backdrop, large octodome camera right.

I think that you're being harsh on yourself. Sure the picture isn't coverworthy, but that is only because it doesn't show the corset well enough. If I was compiling a catalogue I'd look at using the shot as a filler or perhaps to introduce the underbust lines.
Now getting beyond that, I really like the shot. It's simple, elegant and flatters the model and the corset, assuming that you're trying to sell corsets!
Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth.

I LOVE the corset! I have a corset that gives me a pretty narrow waist, but nothing as teensy as that! Not that I couldn't, I've practiced keeping them tight and I have a naturally pretty small ribcage (lucky me)... just my current corset doesn't lace up that small. 
I wore my corset out clubbing a couple months ago... it was HAWT. *looks for photos*
What was really hard was holding her down and getting the corset on her while she struggled to get free and escape.

There does seem to be a bit of structural awkwardness happening in her right shoulder area from the pose---makes that arm look almost detached. It is the straps pulling down?

Well, the alternative---arm up, hand in hair---would've been a little too cliche, I think. Everything else is so stunningly perfect it's a little visually distracting is all.
