Lex moves into New York City to try and impose his operations there, However, he would soon find himself having competition with another business man. His rival was Tony Stark AKA Iron Man. Like Luthor, Stark had a big successful company named after him and a high level intellect that is matched by his own ego. Lex tries to coax Tony into working with him (and buyout most of Stark Industries' assets into LexCorp under his nose) but Stark was no fool and turned down the proposed alliance. Of course, Luthor was naturally pissed and would not only come to despise Iron Man for refusing him but declare the armor wearing superhero as an enemy to be eliminated.
