Beerus comes to Metropolis in his quest to find the Super Saiyan God he's heard so much about. Some criminals come by and try to shoot him with their guns which have no effect on the Destroyer God. This only angers Beerus and decides to destroy Earth for such insolence. This draws the attention of Superman who rushes in to confront Beerus and put a stop to his violent outburst. It seemed as though The Man of Steel was evenly matched with The God of Destruction until Beerus decides to unleash the full depths of his destructive power and dominates the Kryptonian with ease. Pondering on whether to finish off his beaten foe, Beerus opts to spare Superman and leaves Metropolis to seek out the Super Saiyan God.
