I was immediately attracted to the lower half of the piece. The flower and the hand are exquisite. The design detail on the straps of her garment is wonderful.

This illustration looks really gorgeous and breathtaking! I really like how you put a lot of effort on her hair and the clothing that she's wearing. The flower that she's holding came out really wonderful as well!

Thanks! The clothing is actually based on real medieval Korean dress.

I love this one! Beautiful work on her outfit!
I'm still jealous of your shading... It's always so soft looking.
I wish I could draw like you.

Thanks! It's in large part the paper that helps the shading. I use smooth Bristol.

I haven't tried graphite on Bristol at all... I'll have to try it some time and see how it turns out.

Another gorgeous drawing! I never get tired of looking at your art, Maria. All of your drawings have astonishing details, and patterns of costumes, armors, weapons, etc. are breathtakingly beautiful!

Thank you so much! I like to use traditional patterns. I looked at a lot of traditional Korean dress for this one.

I'm Japanese and my mom used to sell kimonos, but I never paid any attention to those beautiful patterns when I was living there. Took things for granted big time!

It's beautiful It reminds me a bit of 'Momo', a fantasy story by a german autor. In this story time is represented by flowers.

Thanks, Daniela! The lotus here is symbolic (one of eight Buddhist symbols). That story sounds interesting!

You're welcome
It's a great child's story about gray gentlemen who persuade people to save their time, so they have more time for themselves when they are old. But the gray gentlemen don't intend to give the saved time back, but use it for themselves.
After reading that one I am more comfortable with spending time just to relax

OMG, I know this story! I can't believe the name didn't ring a bell. I never actually read the book, but as a kid I saw a cartoon based on it: [link] Apparently there's also a movie, but it was never released there. We did have The Neverending Story (based on the same author).

Yes, that's exactly the story I also love the neverending story, but (as always
) the book is way better than the movie. I have never read anything with so much fantastic ideas again

I should read them... People are saying apparently Momo the book is better than the movie too.

The movie isn't that bad, but it's true, the book is better. I'm sure you would like both stories
