Description
The Equimunk group represents a fascinating example of convergent evolution on Lithos. With newly emerging predators on the open landscapes, the grazing chipmunks had to adapt.A body plan similar to gazelles or horses is intrensically valuable on the grassy plains. All equimunks have a digitigrade hind leg with early signs of their front legs evolving similarly. This allows them to run more efficiently over long distances.
The most common species of Equimunk is the Savanna Equimunk. They usually live in savannas (wow!), but often wenture into scrubland and forests. They live all around the Central-lake region and have multiple subspecies separated by bodies of water.
Savanna Equimunks typically live in herds ranging from 5 to 20 individuals. These herds are structured hierarchically, with dominant individuals guiding the group's movements during migrations and foraging activities.
They exhibit a nomadic lifestyle, traversing vast distances in search of optimal feeding grounds and water sources.
During periods of rest, herds congregate in sheltered areas such as groves of trees or rocky outcrops, where individuals engage in social grooming and even play.
