Description

In the past 4 million years, the area of water has nearly tripled. Increased percipitation allowed ecosystems to spread further out into the desert. Yet still, almost all life is limited to the southern hemisphere of Lithos. Even the plants with wind dispersed seeds can't travel to the other bodies of water by themselves and are stuck in the Central-lake area.

But a lot of small lakes and pond nearby are becoming oasies' and are being colonized by the ever evolving flora an fauna dispersing into the deserts.

Rainforests:

These are the most stable environments on Lithos since rain falls upon these areas at least once a week. Giant mulberry and fig trees shadow over the landscape. Within their canopy, mosses, lichens and even epyphytes evolved from small succulents cover the branches. Between the tall trees, smaller coconut palms, vines and bushes create a dense undergrowth, filling every space available.

Woodland/savanna:

In places where rainfall is more seasonal, vegetation has to adapt. Grasses dominate this biome but drought tolerant trees are also present, most commonly walnut and date palms, interspersed with some lavender tree descendants.

Scrubland:

Bunchgrasses, sparse bushes and dwarfed trees are dotted around the rocks. The most succesful plants are succulents and the cacti that evolved from the prickly pear cactus. This is the frontier for life.

Out in the deserts, the other lakes are not so lifeless anymore.
