it's hard to live patriotism here in the sense of say the american patriotism. i'm sure proud of my home but there's too many idiots that'd think i was one of them if i put up a flag post in the front yard, if ye know what i mean...

patriotism's probably got a different status in china...
i imagine that it would be much more important over there to hold that massive country of so many different cultures together in one piece. much like in the usa.
over here in germany the dangers of our country falling apart into smaller countries are over (for the moment at least). these days there are no conflicts along our borders since we're in the middle of other countries belonging to the european union.
i think it would be important for germany to create a new face for our patriotism in which all peoples living here are included and welcomed to be proud of living here without having to give up being proud of their original heritage. that's the key to patriotism being healthy for a country in our times. i love how the united states manage to do so. (even though they are exaggerating a lot and getting on peoples nerves at times with unnecessary ignorance towards others).

You know, I ALWAYS felt this song had such an interesting mood because of the practically medieval subject material clashing with Coldplay's very modern sound. But I honestly think this is a very successful depiction of that mood. Great job!
