*giggles* Yes this is what happens when you listen to ACDC while drawing the princess of the Earth Bending tribe.As some of you might already know this is Toph from Avatar the Last Airbender. She is the blind, twelve year old earthbender that agreed to teach Aang how to earthbend so that he might be able to defeat the Fire Nation and restore balance to the world.
Simply put I love her character and think she is very much a welcome addition to the show. I love how vocal she is about her opinion regardless of the other person's stature. She's witty, sarcastic, and always out to prove herself. Dressed much like a doll (thanks to her father), though she is really a tomboy at heart. She's always found running around barefoot leaving the soles of her feet quite soiled.
And for you real otakus out there- Toph's style is based on Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu- a REAL form of martial arts. Much like the other elemental tribes, the writers of this show wanted Toph's and the other Earth Benders' fighting style to be as realistic and unique as possible. I think they exceeded their goal.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Also, if you haven't watched the show on Nick yet I highly recommend it. I'm happy to say my kids and I love to watch this one and rarely if ever will we miss an episode. Yes, it's that damn good.

LoL- yeah recently I've been 'trying' to put up a colored and uncolored version when I decide to color one. It's interesting to see who prefers my black and white versus the full out colored versions. Plus, it's a great way to save it incase I screw it up somehow.
I need to draw another picture of her now that I think about it.

Oh thank you- um practice, practice, practice.. would be my first word of wisdom. When I first started I drew all the time. And ya, you're gonna suck- I don't imagine Mozart's first piano piece was a hit, nor Van Gogh's first painting a masterpiece.
You have to evolve into something greater than yourself..
..and you will.
It just takes time, and the will do stick with it.
Getting some anatomy books are a good start. Stick with fine art and then branch into more you once you have the basics down. Learn the human form and study it. Don't be afraid to try something new- and remember lines and shading are your friend.

I think those who work with traditional stuff have way more talent than those who work on the computer. The compy does most of the hard work so yeah, it's more about how well you know how to work with it, but traditional is more of a skill that has to be learned a step at a time, and I admire that the most ; ^;

Lot's of comments already? Man, I must be late getting here. Interesting looking character. But I don't watch this show, and have no idea who she is...
Not because I don't like the show. I think it's pretty cool. But I have only seen maybe 5-6 different episodes, all spaced out. So, I have no idea what's going on. Because of this, I don't bother to watch it. If I had the chance to watch the whole thing on DVD, I probably would.

Good News! It's out on dvd- at least the first 5 discs worth (about 2o episodes total) and the show is just nearing the end of it's second season if memory serves me right. And unlike most anime, they're really cost effective- running around $11-12 a piece depending where you go. Plus, there's always the ability of buying them used at your local game shop/movie store.
