Description

Flash was never really developed in canon, so I decided to write my own interpretation for my next gen. Takes place after Season 8 (Season 9 isn't 100% canon in Galaxyverse).

In 5ANM (Stands for ‘After Nightmare Moon’) Twilight was summoned to the Crystal Empire by Cadence who had concerning dreams about the Shadow world. She had arrived alone and spend several months there, not that she minded as she missed her family and Starlight, who moved to the Empire with Sunburst and their daughter.

The Princess quickly noticed Flash, she had met his human counterpart and she had not felt so smitten by anypony since. Being around him made her a little nervous, she’d blush and was sure the orange pegasi noticed. So she started to avoid him, hiding behind pillars and walls when she saw him coming, trying to avoid the awkwardness. She hadn’t thought of dating anyone, too busy being a Princes and saving equestrian every other Friday, but she started to think of it now…

Ever since Cadence found out of Twilight interest in Flash, she found every excuse to get the two alone, her latest idea being the library. She convinced Flash Twilight needed help in finding the right reading material.

Twilight didn’t think the Pegasus would be much help. Shining Armor was never interested in study, always find an excuse to run away and only studied enough to pass. But Flash turned out to be quite different.

He talked with interest about the Crystal Empire’s history and even said things Twilight didn’t know about. She was more than a little impressed.

“Captain, I didn’t know you knew so much on this topic…”

“I-I do like to read in my free… when I’m not guarding the Princess of course.”

From that day on she had started to look at him in a very different manner than before. He too have noticed what the pony was really like behind the royal title, and they continued to spend time together in that library.

Twilight didn’t like calling the walks she continued to go on with Flash ‘dates’. She claimed he was only showing her around, but nopony believed that. The two ponies were closer than ever and each of their walks were filled with googly eyes and flirty comments.

They both knew they were attracted to one another. Flash wanted to be gentlecolt and make the first move but he was conflicted, he was just a guard and Twi was a Princess. He didn’t know if she had plans to marry politically, or if she would even consider someone like him. Meanwhile Twilight didn’t know if she had the time for a relationship, she was on an important mission afterall and had all of ponykind to help look after at home.

So despite Cadence’s and Starlight’s best efforts – the relationship was in awkward and flirty stand-still.

Everything finally fell together a few months into twilights mission.

Even though Twilight was the one to pinpoint the area where she suspected the disturbance from the Shadow world to be, she hesitated to have the guards check it out. Flash had his own unit and would be assigned to this mission which could be highly dangerous – if it was actually Sombra’s doing.

Cadence tried to keep Twilight calm but she was worried. But she was also a Princess who had to make sacrifices, and this was Flash’s job.

So they went and the entire court became airily quiet.

Twilight couldn’t stop worrying, especially that the mission expanded for more days than expected.

Finally after two weeks – a sudden panic arose at the court.

“Cadence, what going on? Are the guards back?”

“Twilight, I don’t know… they’re saying.. it could have been a trap…”

The soldiers poured in through the door of the castle, some looked injured and were taken to get treated. Twilight ran through the crowd looking for the stallion who she grew feelings for. She hoped that nothing happened to him but when she couldn’t find him she completely panicked.

Then she heard it…

“Princess Twilight…”

She turned around and he was there, unharmed and even looking kind of happy. He came closer and open his mouth to say something, but he never got the chance.

Twilight threw herself forward and kissed him in front of everyone in the hall, though many failed to notice due to the panic.

When Twilight pulled away, Cadence and Shining Armor approached to discuss the situation.

A month later Flash left to join Twilight in Ponyville as her personal guard and coltfriend.
