Description In case it isn't obvious, I really like Animal Crossing . XD

The ending of this comic was surprisingly super hard to properly nail down. My original draft had it so that the island turned out to be an active volcano. Moonbeam promptly would've fled from the island and started swimming for her life, possibly with a shark chasing her. I really didn't like that ending because it felt way too cliche. It's something I know we've seen in countless classic cartoons over the years.

The second version of the ending actually contained a character cameo. The island was going to turn out to not be an island at all and instead was the head of Steven Magnet , the sea serpent from the second part  of the series premiere. I thought that would be the perfect ending for a while, but I eventually realized that wouldn't quite work either. The main problem would've been the size inconsistencies. So I scrapped that as well.

After going through two revisions of the ending, I was starting to get desperate. I seriously considered at one point just giving this comic no ending whatsoever. Just cut it off at panel 4 and leave it at that. Then I thought about reflecting my struggle to come up with an ending by leaving Moonbeam stranded with no way to get off.

I couldn't leave a comic without a satisfying payoff.

Then I thought back to what inspired this comic from the get-go. The idea for a comic set on an island came from playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons . I've really fallen in love with this game as of late and I thought what if Moonbeam found herself on an island? When I thought about the inspiration behind the comic, it dawned on me that the ending had been staring me in the face the entire time. If this was going to be a comic inspired by Animal Crossing, why not pay homage to it? Once that had clicked in my head, that's when the ending finally came together.

TL;DR I struggled for a punchline for several days before finally getting it right.
