Description

After a ton of rewrites and a couple of scrapped drawings, this new Moonbeam comic is finally ready.

So the idea for this comic came from a hilarious doodle of Moonbeam wearing a saddle, which meant that I already had the punchline planned out when I began the writing process for this comic. The original draft of the script had Moonbeam applying for a job at a supermarket, where the idea was that she got hired in place of a mechanical horse ride that you might see outside of some grocery stores. I showed that version of the gag to a few of my friends and while they got the joke, it hit me in the middle of illustrating it that it made no sense in universe why a pony would be hired to give other ponies pony rides.

I went back to the drawing board to reevaluate the joke and try to figure out a way I could savage the comic without having to toss out the visual idea of Moonbeam in a saddle. The options were very limited as I either had to change the boss that Moonbeam interviewed in the office or change the setting entirely. The latter option seemed the most preferable.

And because of that decision, two finished panels had to be tossed out completely, along with one funny detail I had slipped into the background. In the aforementioned boss's office, she had a nameplate on her desk reading "Miss Management." It was a funny little joke, but it had to go.

Side note, I caused a little stir on Twitter and Discord when I announced this next Moonbeam comic would be Not Safe for Work. Baffling because all I did was reveal the title.
