If you want the lines to be cleaner, you could always trace over them with a brighter color, save it as a 16-color bitmap, then resave it as a png and erase all the grey.

i usually do that when i edit the base or want it to be single lined. ;u;

That's the only method I use on my base account

When I tried, it worked, but the colors disappeared, and just a bunch of black and white things were left where the colors should be.

try dowloading it
if this still continues, try saving it as a 16 color bitmap.

This didn't work at all. It erased all my lineart >

.... the base needs to be black ? because it gived me just 3 circles when i did that to a lineart which it wasn't MS paint friendly.

mlppegasister In reply to ArcticPetal [2016-02-22 01:04:02 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, no the base doesn't need to be black, can I have a link the to lineart you used?

i tried doing the regular monochrome bit however it takes away a lot of the base so i suggest trying a 16 color bitmap or 24 color until it shows through
if you do this the base may change in color so if you dont want that i suggest just leaving as is
i've been having problems with my computer so i'm sorry i couldn't get back sooner.

That would be because it isn't digital. (I believe?)

It is digital.
Mostly of the linearts are made on a digital platform....

wow, this is SUPER useful ;w;
I used to make digital bases for myself but currently Im working with very big pixel images that I resize in the end (for some reason I can do better lines with the pixel tool in SAI)
and now I can "convert" my old bases to big pixel bases, super awesome~
thanks a bunch for sharing this >w<

No problem! I got so sick of retracing shit so I messed around and figured it out XD, and I figured others would like to know it.

yeah ;w;
have been doing so much retracing as well, not that much of a pain, but this is just so much easier =w=
Im great with SAI and PS but not with ms paint, probably would have never figured this out without this tutorial

Okay, so I'd paste it into another window and then save as and then change the file to a monochrome bit map, but if there isn't a monochrome bit map available, look for a 16 color big map and try that, the only problem is that (if the lineart/base happened to be similar colors, {ex: different shades of blue or grey) the colors may all mesh together
