There have been many people complaining about Skarloey's and Rheneas' episodes in the HiT Era, and who can blame them? After all, the two supposed wise narrow gauge engines were regressed into reckless bratty children, and barely show their original personalities from the classic series.

In spite of that though, a lot of the people who hate Skarloey and Rheneas in the HiT Era, for some reason, also defend their characterizations in the climax of Blue Mountain Mystery, where they are now conclusion-jumping jerks. I'm sorry, but I don't recall those two ever jumping to conclusions or anything in the classic series, nor not allowing someone to explain what they did. That doesn't feel like Skarloey and Rheneas at all, at least not their classic series selves. I'd say they were just as out-of-character in that scene as they were in the HiT Era. And no, just because they had a right to be angry at Thomas does not mean they had a right to be out-of-character. That's basically the same thing as preferring the Miller Era over the BWBA Era just because the former is more realistic than the latter (basically the whole logic over characterization bullcrap)! And if Skarloey and Rheneas were truly in-character, they would let Thomas explain (no matter how angered they were), and would try and get the other narrow gauge engines to listen to him! At least those two had their personalities fixed for good in the Brenner Era.
