**MLP SEASON 6 SPOILERS**This is just my reaction to the news we got 2 days ago revealing Shining Armor and Princess Cadence's foal! Here's the link if you haven't see it already:
www.equestriadaily.com/2016/01… I know this is an uncommon opinion, but I actually really like her design! I think the colors are beautiful and go well together (I know some people find the bright blue streak in her mane to be jarring, but it isn't to me
)I think the way she looks makes perfect sense considering her parents' color schemes.
BUUUUT I do have one criticism of her: HER NAME! Princess Flurry Heart is an awful name that makes no sense what so ever! I know so many people here on dA alone who have thought of better names for a ShiningDance foal than Flurry Heart! I mean, flurry, like snow? Is that supposed to be because the Crystal Empire is in the Arctic North of Equestria? Did she have a fluttering heart beat? Because that's unhealthy... I don't know, hopefully it'll be explained in the show, but I doubt it'll make me feel any better.
And yeah, I did take a few liberties with what color metal jewelry Princess Flurry Heart would wear, but otherwise, I stayed as faithful to the designs and colors as possible! I used the ink-dropper tool to pick the colors right out of the pictures of Flurry Heart and Skyla.
Oh and for anyone who doesn't recognize Skyla, she was a toy that came out just after Cadence and Shining Armor's wedding: ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I…
I can only speak for myself, but I think a lot of us were scared that she might be canon, so thank goodness we dodged that bullet.
Anyway, I drew this on Jan 8 as soon as I saw it, and it was meant to only be a quick sketch, but it took me wayyyy to long to finish! I seriously could have had it uploaded yesterday night if I hadn't been interrupted. This is technically my second time using sai since like 2012, so sorry for the crappy quality, but as I said, it was supposed to be really quick. Anyway! I hope you enjoy my little chart thingy.

Oh and I left out Crystal Rose's cutie mark just because it looked off with Skyla and Flurry Heart having blank flanks. But from her name, you can probably guess that it's a crystal rose haha.

Tought I still would have prefered she had the Cake twins character design (and I admit that the name sounds weird), I have no problem with Flurry Heart. So what if she was born an alicorn? Neither Twilight, Luna or Celestia have children to say that's not possible. She's a Mary Sue and has no flaws? Just look at the size of those wings: not only it will make very difficult for her to learn to walk and fly, she'll be picked up like hell when she starts going to school (let's hope she eventually grows into then...).

That's nice, I'm glad that there are people who don't have a problem with her. I don't either aside from her name lol XD but also, I'm interested in the first thing that you said, but I didn't quite understand- what did you mean when you said that you wished she had the Cake twins character design? Just curious

Oh I see, like in terms of the way she's animated. I was thinking like color scheme or powers or something XD but yeah, I get what you're saying. It's inconsistent with the baby ponies they've shown us before- like the Cakes.

To confound things even more: in the episode where it's revealed that Cadance was pregnant, we briefly see a picture of baby Applejack looking just like Flury Heart would, but a flash back in a season 2 episode showed her looking like the Cake twins. The twins also appear in a later season 6 episode and their CD is still the same.

Yeah, true. I'm going to guess and say it was because they knew they wanted to make Flurry Heart Toys to sell, and it would be easier to use that design as a toy instead of the Cake Twins and Apple Jack, who were unlikely to get toys made of them.

Flurry Heart is very cute, I just wish that her name was something different...and I hate how that other people hate her because she was born an alicorn and with a huge horns and wings, like maaaaybe alicorns were originally born with a big horn. I don't know. No one knows how Celestia and Luna were born, so how can FLurry Heart be questioned. And be called a "Mary Sue". In fact, I believe she isn't a Mary Sue, because Mary Sue's wouldn't have any flaws. BUT, she already does have a flaw. Her wings. Once she is able to walk, it will be very hard for her because her wings would be too heavy for her, sooner or later, she might begin to hate her wings (or not I'm just guessing, but I know I would if I had huge wings I would hate it.).
And plus, Flurry Heart was made with her being born with big eyes, horns, and wings because they wanted to make a new toy out of her. Too make it better than the cannon expected alicorn, Skyla. Now, to kinda be off topic, I hate it how people say that all of the four princesses (not counting Flurry Heart) are all Mary Sue's... Pssshhh, really?? Have the people watched the episodes clearly??! Princess Luna did have flaws, same as Princess Celestia AND Twilight Sparkle. With Twilight becoming an alicorn, it was bound to happen.
Also, being born an alicorn could be like a genetic "mutation". Like how people are born with Heterochromia iridium. Where the two eyes are two different colors. That is VERY rare, same as a alicorn. A alicorn could be born from any pony family from 1 to a very high amount of regular births every day or so in the show. There's a 1% chance that a filly or colt could be born an alicorn. And that's very few. It also depends if the ancestry of the babies parents are in any way related to an alicorn family in the past.
Sorry for my rambling, I just had to state my saying out there because when she first came out, all I saw was hate.... I never liked the canon expected baby for SA (Shining Armor) and Cadence. She was way too dark, and her parents were a light color. SA being white, and Cadence being lightish pink. So Flurry Heart fits perfectly. Same as the hair.

And I just watched the episode with Flurry Heart being born. I also found out of why they named her that...
They literally freaking named her something that COULD have killed her entire family as well as the princesses and other ponies!
What a nice thing to do Hasbro :"D
Flurry Hear would ask her aunt Twilight (Flurry) -> "Where did I get my name from?" (Aunt Twilight) "....uh.... Um... It sounded...pretty!"
And then in her teenage years she would finally find out the truth of her name :I. That would prooobably make her upset.
And I know, me too. It was so cute how Flurry loved Pinkie cx.

I know right?!?!? :' D I just wonder how long it'll take the show to get there :' ) the Cake twins haven't aged at all lol. But then again, they're background characters, whereas Flurry is a more major character with a connection to Twilight the main character, so we can hope lol! XD

Haha yeah I probably will XD I just have to hear the canon characters saying the name enough and I'll be fine c: I'd be even happier if one of the mane 6 or someone (even spike) were to act confused about the name so the reasoning behind it could be explained haha XD but thank you for the encouragement! I'll be so happy once the new season starts that I probably won't even care about Flurry Heart's name : D

Imo Flurry Heart just doesn't sound well, a bit hard to pronounce, as for meaning - don't care. Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and others hardly make more sense.
Otherwise I like her alright, I guess. Though I must prefer original baby ponies design, her derp face and weird noises gave me shivers :'D

Haha, I agree, "Flurry Heart" seems like a mouth full XD And it's true that other names in the show make even less sense : 'D And yeah, I think we were all a little disturbed by her baby design with the massive wings and horn and stuff. Maybe she was meant to be a little bit older than a baby? Probably not though XD

Oh, I don't mind big wings and horn. In fact I find them cute. Now, how disturbingly derpy her eyes are, those noises she made, how she moved her arms... I guess they tried to make her human baby-like, but eh, human babies are fucking creepy af

Hahahaha yeah you're right XD I agree with you about the wings and horn actually, it is a cartoon after all and not meant to be too realistic. But I think they were trying to be a little too realistic with the human baby sounds.

This kinda made me think that perhaps this is all but a dream/nightmare for Twilight who is afraid that her niece will be an alicorn and no one will know how to deal with so much power

Well, not replacing her - Twilight isn't jealous when it coms to power - but rather being a disaster magnet, breaking stuff, using her magic to do crazy stuff etc

I could see it either way, but I doubt what I said will be canon. I would be interested to see if it is a dream or not. It seems like too big of deal to reveal it if it's just going to be a dream, but who knows? I can't wait for season 6!

Eh, I don't see anything bad with it as long as it's not promoting sexist, racist etc themes. Hasbro is a toy making company, and frankly when it comes Transformers and My Little Pony and such their cartoons are at best when they manage to combine what they have to work with with their imagination and possibilities

Your Crystal Rose looks really pretty I must say, with the rosy/purple colors combined with the slight hint of blue too
Yeah, the name "Flurry Heart"'s gonna take some time getting used to, but I'm still pretty satisfied with her design (her colors are so sweet~ >w<) and potential in the upcoming season

It's highly likely that one of the parents was the one who named her, possibly Shining.

I like it, despite the fact she's an born Alicorn. Her name plus her colors reminds me of the crystal heart of Cadence's cutie mark, but gleaming in dark blue and purple. Similar to her mane, but darker colors.
