Description
Acrylic on Canvas,70 × 50 cm,
2011.
I thought with this painting I’d start with a straightforward headshot and see how far I could go with it, The head I think is from a statue whos image I found on a shisha tin box at home, I thought it was a good starting point as it was heavily contrasted, thus giving me an easy start with the tonal work. This was originally gold/green when I started. The more I worked at it, the more I suppose I just lost myself in it it actually looks nothing like what it started off as. The ‘eyes’ were originally left white from the background, I decided to make them look somewhat artificial as opposed to just convenient holes in the subject.

Powerful technique with broad range imagination. I'd pat myself on the head for this one. Reminds me of HP Lovecraft's 'Chthulhu' image. Cheers!

Very nice idea, I wanted an eroded weathered look and feel for this, which could only be created by water I guess, man thanks
