I'M HYPED
I have mentioned I'm drawing stuff about Cale's teen years, and here's a starting piece!! (The actual starting piece was supposed to be just teen Cale chillin', but I've wanted to draw this one too for a while so hmm I do what I want xD) \o/ There's so much I want to share about him!!
(At first I thought I'm just going to squeeze everything interesting about his youthhood into one drawing which was also supposed to tell the story behind his tattoo; then I decided his tattoo story needs at least three separate drawings; then I understood that Cale's teen years are worthy a hecking novel lol, so there will be many drawings and walls of texts!! And a lot of sketches too, because I'm gonna die if I have to properly finish everything)

Okay let's go~
Here (adult) Cale is visiting his adoptive parents in his old hometown, he goes to a store and meets his high school classmate Marvin at the checkout. Cale doesn't recognize or remember him at first, but Marvin will never forget about Cale.
Cale was a bully in middle school and about the first two years in high school. It was self-defense, eat or be eaten type of thing. He was a short, skinny, kind of weird looking kid who had an unusual way of showing emotions, he had an alcoholic birth mother, white supremacist birth father who is in prison for hate crimes and violence, was in foster care until he was adopted when he was fourteen... he was an easy target for bullies, but he fought back by making other kids' lives miserable. Like Marvin's.
Marvin has come a long way accepting who he is and has worked hard to build his confidence, and he has a good thing going on in his life. He has a girlfriend, people like him and are friendly to him, everything looks bright!
... then this douche from high school enters the store and just his presence reminds Marvin how much pain this guy has caused him. Here's some extra sketches of their time in class.

I was thinking about continuing this, but I want to do other things too and these two panels took enough time already lol, so I'm just going to leave it as a rough sketch . Basically Cale pays, thanks, leaves the store, lits up a cigarette and while he's smoking he considers going back to tell Marvin he's sorry. He comes to a conclusion apologizing wouldn't change anything, and as someone who doesn't trust and never forgets nor forgives, Cale doesn't see any point of going back, so he gets into his car and drives away.

I literally said in the previous Cale post that he's a good boi... xD Definitely doesn't sound like it, but he is. Life just hasn't been good to him and he's still suffering. He knows where he has come from, and he's focusing on not returning there.
