So, I needed a break from working on my brother's graduation present (which I will post soon) and this happened Yay for winged humanoids!

This is a very special winged dude: his name is Akiva and he's based on a character by Laini Taylor in her novel "Daughter of Smoke and Bone." I recently read this book at someone's suggestion and then decided to draw this at that same someone's behest. I guess that makes this drawing dedicated to the lovely and extremely kindhearted and talented

I know, I didn't do the character enough justice and he came out a little young looking. booo. I may try it again sometime when I have more time.

I could stare at it alllllll day long! You did a fantastic job!! I think you totally did him justice. That hot bod and those wings! I'm always in awe of the wings that you draw!
Plus the scars and the blood is really nicely done. Did it take you very long?? This should be the cover for the next book (not some silly whispy mask thing that they used for the first one.) I think this is by far the best fanart I've seen of Daughter of Smoke and Bones.

Thanks and you're mighty, mighty welcome. After all, this little guy is entirely your doing I stayed up hella late drawing this before I left for New York. It just had to be done. That said, I spent entirely too much time drawing him and not enough time on his wings. I may have to go back and fix them a bit before he's finished. I just wanted to make sure I had it uploaded where you could see it before I neglected my DA account for a whole week. haha.

When I submitted this, I did a search on fan art for the book and I was amazed at how few there were. And oddly enough, most of the fan art I did see was of Akiva. I can't imagine why. lol.

yea there's really little fanart for daughter of smoke and bone. which is weird, because it's quite a popular book. I'm thinking of drawing karou, because I love her blue hair hahahah

I think you did a great job on him. I love his expression and his wings are really nice. Hope you had a good time at your brother's graduation (:

You so should draw Karou! You'd do an awesome job, I'm sure! You have all your princess experience to apply to it And Karou definitely acts like a spoiled princess... haha. I'm tempted to draw Issa next. She's intriguing. But I've got too much to finish first. boo. She'll have to wait.

Yup-yup. I had loads of fun, but now I'm oh so tired and drained. It's taking me awhile to get back in the groove. haha.

i always thought the scene where they first see each other and akiva is about to kill her but hesistates is epic. but it might be a bit hard to draw. they face each other right? otherwise we can make up one of our own too!!
