I like tengu more than angels. I find angels annoying and disturbing for several reasons. First, their Boss is a rather overbearing arrogant kind of guy who expects all his underlings and slaves to worship him and no other deity and also has a hair-trigger tendency to smite people and cities who either happened to be in the way of His building project or happened to not agree with His utmost sovereignty and other numerous absurd Rules . Second, they seem morally ambiguous, and manipulative bastards who hurt people or cause trouble on behalf of their Lord. Third, they don't appear when you really need them the most. They just let you stew in despair before conveying you some message...kind of like what happened to Lot.

I find tengu lots cooler because they're more independent and more close to nature. Even though the tengu are known for their mischief and trickery,they're also well know for being patrons of martial arts and skilled warriors. They have the telepathic ability to speak without moving their mouths, to appear in dreams at will to shapeshift, and to move instantly from one place to another without having to use their wings.
