I know~! honestly I had that male alicorn in my head before I saw Discord, I didn't believe the whole chimera thing, I was a bit disappointed at first, but now he's my most favorite villain. i just wish he did more than that.

Honestly?, it's been done. A lot of villains these days are the emo tragic monster, it'd be dull just to have another like that. Besides, we've emo'd NMM enough to give us our daily dose.(But he'd do it! He'd go goth and mope about, just to foll us all, then when we least expect it... POW disco party!)
It's all about what you can do with the villain; alicorn!Discord would be what exactly? A male NMM by the looks of things. The only thing different would be his gender and his reason for destroying Equestria. It'd be same old, same old. (Indeed, several fans have already come up with this idea, notably Erebus of the 'deep dark' who is almost idientical to the alicord.)
With Discord as he is however we have a totally different perspective,a villain with no real agenda (or even much malice) who will ruin everypony's lives as a side effect of being random. He's also deliciously manipulative.
It reminds me a bit of Megabyte and Hexadecimal from Reboot, two equally dangerous villains with two totally different personalities that together can be used far more constructively than just another villain popped out of a standard mold.

Its been done so many times, That's why I disagree with some of the shippers who says Discord turned evil because Celestia rejected him. seriously there are so many..
Discord doesn't seem to have a tragic past, but the show/and the creator didn't tell us, so its up to us, whether we want to make it tragic or not. unless the creator spills some words about his past. I doubt it.

It was as good as said when Ep 2.1 came out that Celestia-Discord would occur and that it would be the 'rejection turns you evil' kind. I mean, they even tried it wit Gilda. It's just so easy to do, it makes him likeable. There are many other options, but people tend to stick with cliches.
I'd say Discord had a hard upbringing, just from the general state of Equestria, it's not a nice place; I mean you're one day away from having your town crushed by an ursa. (How often was Ponyville threatened in one single year?) The question would be how he handled it. The easy way would be 'he was fine with it' maybe with a bit of 'Celestia hated it', but I'd like to think the truth was more complex. Real life seldom breaks down to 'They were always a jerk' or 'childhood trauma causes everything'
I think bronies have a deep seated need to kill ponies, a lot of their fics can be summed up as 'something violent enters Equestria and kills a lot of ponies. The mane six must stop it.' It's a reason I'm glad Discord was as he was, such grimdark villains just don't fit with the shows atmosphere and they do little for me. Whereas with Discord, he could do anything.
Reboot was a series based in a computer. The viral siblings Megabyte [link] and Hexadecimal [link] (Once part of the super virus gigabyte [link] ) had two opposite personalities. megabyte had intelligence, control and mercilessness. He tortured to get information, infected bionomes and sectors, enslaving the populace and once he took control caused the entire system to crash. Hexadecimal was far more powerful, able to destroy the entire system on a whim, but was insane and chaotic, cheerful one minute, murderous the next. Once as a game she took over the system paint program and did pretty much what Discord did. (She's also in love with a main protagonist, Bob.)
If you can, check them out, they have some excellent scenes. The Reboot episode 'Painted Windows' is especially nice.

There's still some Grimdark stories involving him, lol I don't mind or anything, but i agree with you.
i don't know, some people just likes Grimdark things to add, uh how I said it 'spice'(?) okay not the right word, but at east its only fanfics.

Trixie I wouldn't pin as evil, boastful yes, but she tries her best and never really *hurt* anypony, she's probably very nice once you get to know her. (I doubt she's even as stubbornly boastful as bronies make her out to be. It'll be interesting to see if she comes back.)
Gilda... I'm not sure what a definition of 'evil' would be, but i definitely think she's malicious. She's an evil Rainbow Dash as it were, she dislikes ponies by default, takes pleasure in the suffering of others and has a definite proud streak. (She's probably no worse than the colts Dash encountered in flight school, is it me or was everypony in Junior Speedsters a jerk BUT Dash?) Trixie could be quite nice, Gilda needs a major attitude change.
In regard to fanfics, I think you are right there, completely cannon fics would be ok, but it takes a lot of talent to write an engaging fic within those limitations. A lot of fics are 'Let's take this story I have and add pony' for example, Fallout Equestria or Antipodes (A fic so far removed from MLP it only has one canon charater in it so far, warped beyond recognition.)
In fact, about the only fanfic trope that has been avoided so far is the 'high school universe' fic. (Where everyone's in highschool together.), possibly because Ponyville seems too small for a proper modern-day high school.

The extent of Trixie's magic is a bit up for debate, she managed to best Ponyville's best, ergo many simply put her at Twilight's level, but from what we see it doesn't look like she's anywhere near that. What Trixie is good at is showy, impressive magic, it's a talent, but it's far from Twilight's more in-depth and practical talent. if they'd both been tutored the same they might be of similar power, but that's not the case.
What I 'love' about how bronies handle Trixie is the 'I like Trixie, thus she must have an excuse for being so mean, I bet her parents are dead.' I mean seriously, nearly every story that portrays her sympathetically uses the dead parents excuse (Beloved of many fandoms.) Or at least parental abandonment. I always figure that some people are just jerks, Q.E.D.

A lot of fanfics aren't exactly AU (Most of those that are are 'Ponies go to X' or 'What if NMM won' Many of them are instead 'Let's take Equestria and add X' Like Fallout Equestria, it pretty much burns Equestria tot he ground then sets the story in the ashes, it really wouldn't take much to divorce it from Equestria entirely.

I hardly read any Trixie fics, but i know some that tells Trixie's past and her mom always sais she's "The great and Powerful Trixie"

A lot of Trixie fics go for 'Mom says GAPT, gets sick, dies' or 'runs away from home'. Trixie apparently needs a hard life to justify the fact she's so arrogant, same as Gilda.
Fanfics can be very... distracting. Some of the best ones end up on TVTropes, where you can read their summaries. (Why, why don't fics come with 300 word summaries for all of us who don't wan to read?)
