Description

(This may have slight spoilers if you have not seen much of Kingdom Hearts. I highly recommend you understand the story of the first game before reading this. That being said, I will not reveal major characters or huge plot points. I may warn you the same way through future titles in the countdown. Otherwise, read at your own risk)

(Another thing I want to point out is there is another part of Chain of Memories called Reverse/Rebirth. After I finish that game, I will post the drawing of that hopefully at least by the 21st. So stay tuned!)

This story continues from the previous game. Sora, Donald, and Goofy continue their search in hopes to find Riku and King Mickey. They come across a mysterious place known as Castle Oblivion. As they enter, they face with an unknown figure in black. He warns them of the fate that's in store. He says as such, "To find is to lose, and to lose is to find." With the warning in mind, Sora and co continue forward and learn what they lose to find are hidden memories. Sora even learns he not only did he know Riku and Kairi...but someone else he seemed to have forgotten. He must push forward, fighting heartless and new enemies along the way, in hopes to learn of the mysterious person he sees in his lost memories.

So......I have mixed feelings about this title. I remember my mom got us the ps2 version of re:chain of memories. Because I was confused with the battle system at the time, I kinda gave up on it. It was only until I finally got back to kingdom Hearts in late 2015 after learning how important many of the games were in the narrative. So, I worked up the courage to try it out, and managed to play all the way through.

This game, in case you don't know, has a card system (in order to swing a Keyblade or set some heartless on fire, you need cards). The gameplay is a mixed bag for many, it just really depends on who you are. Do you hate that it gets repetitive? Do you enjoy the fact that it makes you think on how you customize cards? I'll leave it up to you guys. I am somewhat in the middle myself. While I enjoy the gameplay just fine, it is not a system I would want to go back to in awhile.

The biggest issues I had with the game is mostly the boss fights. What annoys me the most about the bosses is that a couple I fight I have to several times throughout the game (seriously, whenever I play this, I was never looking forward to fighting them). However, if there is one I actually enjoy is the final boss. I will leave it at that, but I'll say it is mainly because the design and aesthetics are just neat.

As for what I liked about it, it was the story honestly. I think, out of the side games, this one is the most simple. Is it still convoluted in it's own way? Of course it is. However, this shows Sora being at his most emotional out of all of the games in the series. I also felt the goal of the story is straight forward. Especially the fact it takes place in one location that has multiple floors. I even enjoy the villains residing in the castle. They are just incredibly entertaining to watch (at least a good handful while I the other half are just really annoying LOL).

That being said, those are my thoughts on, at least, re:chain of memories. I like to point out, I only discovered this game after learning it was a direct sequel to KH1 when I played KH2. I did hear the chain of memories on the gameboy advance is a lot better, aesthetics and gameplay at least. However, that has yet to be seen when, one day, I'll be able to experience this myself. Till then, it's a B- for me.

(ARTIST NOTE)

I just realized I did not add one after a couple years later since I made this post. So, I decided to update my older work because like my KH1 poster, I had to fix one of the shoes. I also wanted to change the title font. Both times, admittedly, adding the title was the most difficult. Not exactly my proudest before but I think this time it should be better....hopefully

I'm really loving the story, I'm not going to lie, I've always been a huge Nintendo fan (still am) because I've always liked family-friendly games. And my past experience with some of the xbox and Play Station games were mostly mature or fps (which I'm gonna say it's not really my cup of tea)

I have came across KH earlier in my life, though I was more aware of it rather than know it's content. But I know it was connected to Disney, and well, my experience with Disney games haven't been well... satisfying if I had to say?

So I never thought much into KH because of that (how wrong I was XD), but a friend of mine who happened to have the 2.5 final remix, she brought the game and the system to school, there is a place where we can connect games and our computers and watch movies/play games thanks to the Otaku club we have there

She brought it so people can play the game and give it a try. I just got out of class, and I got to see some people play it (they were on Destiny Island) she asked me if I wanted to play and I politely declined. As I got to see the person play, I'm not gonna lie, it was then I wanted to try it out. But she had to go by the time I was intrigued to play lol.

I was cool with it, I wasn't too interested to play, more like I wanted to give it a try, so it didn't bother me all that much when she took her game and system with her.

But another friend of mine (who came before she took her game) noticed some of my other friends were playing KH 1.5

He noticed I was interested and we talked and he said he could bring it so I can try. I was like: "sure if you want."

I was just joking, but he must have thought I was being serious; and does bring it the next day.

The look on my face had to be priceless because I was then like: "Oh Shoot, you actually did bring it!!"

So I tried it, loved the intro, but not a huge fan of the first part (those dang coconuts and fishes man...) but once that was done and I got to Traverse time it definitely got interesting.

He brought the game every Tuesday and Thursday, so I got to play it, and over time I really enjoyed it. And just when I thought I couldn't be more invested into the game, my friend then had to show me the trailer for birth by sleep. My reaction: "THIS IS A DISNEY GAME!!!??"

LOL whoops, guess I went overboard on explanation

but yeah, since then I've enjoyed the game and was even interested in purchasing a ps4 and I have been playing the heck out the KH series, and totally stoked to play KH3

WOW! That is one interesting story! That's kinda cool how people are introduced to the series.

Even as as a kid when I first came across the first game for the first time, I didn't think Disney would be capable of being anime LOL I admit, even I couldn't believe. The crossover concept won me over (there again, that crossover idea for Disnye was nothing new....I mean, we had Mickey's house of mouse LOL)

lol thanks

I know right? Who would have thought they would become anime for once XD

I will say I was totally surprised when I saw the FF crossover funny thing is I haven't played a single Final Fantasy game so when Leon showed up, I was who the heck is this. My friend who is a FF fanboy was like: "that's Squall, or in this case Leon."

the only characters I recognized from FF (being one of the most popular was Tifa and Cloud XD

But beyond that, I really love the games and the original KH characters

Ah yes, Mickey mouse ^_^ don't know how many times I hummed the song in Disney town in BBS

When I first played Kingdom Hearts, I haven't heard much about final fantasy. I didn't even think about Cloud until I saw Advent Children.

And yes Mickey Mouse.....I heard that song too many times listening to that song when trying to do a 100% completion LOL

I grew up with that movie so it is a a bit bias to say it's a good movie. I will say the plot itself will confuse you a bit (especially if you didn't play or at least understand FFVII). But the action scenes are over the top fun.
