There is still potential. The bones we saw is probably one of the older species. There is possibility that there will be another one out there. Rodan in KOTM is his third kind, he had his parents that were only existed in prehistoric times (according to Michael Dougherty on Twitter). Anguirus was killed that time, and Godzilla had his bones in the hollow Earth as his grave since he was like a brother to poor old Goji.
We will see him again sometime in the future.
