Description

A workhorse vessel of the Escean Interstellar Navy, the Spectre-Class is a replacement for the Ares-Class of frigates. Laid down in 2077, the lead ship, the EIV Spectre, entered service in 2079.

A second-generation frigate design, the Spectre-Class was the second model of vessel implemented as part of the EINs post-Resource War Redevelopment Initiative. One of the largest frigates in human service, the Spectre packs considerable firepower for its class. Primary armament consists of two 400mm and two 600mm KAP cannons mounted along the length of the vessel on the dorsal and ventral flanks respectively. Thirty forward-firing ASM tubes located within the bow superstructure complete its anti-ship package.

Secondary armament consists of two AS-117C dual-weapon turrets positioned on the dorsal surface of the vessel, and two more on the ventral surface. Each system houses a pair of 100mm KAP cannon and two CIPDL emitters. Fourteen forward-firing FIM tubes complete the protective armaments.

A single Spectre carries a small compliment of starfighters for additional protection, as well as troop transport craft for ferrying any of its small Marine units to other vessels or to the surface. The class has a pair of internal hangar bays for carrying such craft, with fighter units allocated to the first and transports to the second.

Although NAP, the Navy Assistant Program, was not implemented until the introduction of the Atlas-Class in 2080, all iterations of the Spectre were updated with this particular AA suite by 2082. All subsequent vessels of the class constructed were installed with NAP.

As with all vessels designed under the RI, the Spectre uses a variation of the Anti-Proton Engine that became standard. In the case of the Spectre, four APE-551 engines of the same type installed on the Atlas-Class provide primary propulsion. A Deuterium-Helium-3 aneutronic fusion power plant supplies power to systems including weapons, lighting, life support and other electronics. Two vespomide burner reactors supply power for the Dimensional Drive core and propulsion systems.

The EIV Dauntless (IFF [Interstellar Frigate] – 37) is the 37th iteration of the Spectre-Class, laid down in 2099 and completed by 2102. Assigned to the Second Fleet, the Dauntless replaced the Monument in service. The Dauntless was from 2103 to 2106 the posting of future Raven Saela Kāgora.
