this just reminds me of the days here in my country, it was on the 2nd quarter of 2000, when the Tamiya mini 4wd hobby has turned into a big craze that time. It happened when a local channel aired english-dubbed shows of the anime series Lets & Go! by then, many sponsored local and national competitions where held, and it's really one of the best craze that ever occured in the life of many young and OLD guys.... not just a hobby, but a game as well.

and btw-the lightning magnum is nowhere to be seen in the anime... it has only been shown in teh manga.. T_T

i happen to get into the craze but only for a while, i had a ray stinger and a blazing max... but i only paly and display them. although my big brother really got serious about the hobby game, as far as i can remember he did won twice in a local sponsored races, specifically on a technical-course set-up Brocken Gigant, where he got original tamiya parts.

as for me, i appreciated the whole phenomenon of the craze, it's just pleasing to see some father and his son together having or playing the same hobby ^_^ and as well as seeing guys carrying there all-decorated tool boxes ^_^ and innocent people just look and wonder.. "what teh hell!? are those to replace the schoolbags nowadays??" ahehee.... and for the cars? whoa! i really like how they were designed, among my favorite car are blitzer sonic, lightning magnum, buck blader, desert golem, shadow breaker, spin viper, gun bluster, beak spider and max breaker prism blue (of course.. it's tamiya!)

I just hope this craze do happen again... although crazes (as i have studied in sociology) aren't that much repititive in histor, and i don't care if it has short life span... as long as it happens again, i'll make sure i'll have teh budget.. it was teh best craze ever that i have witnessed.. along with the trading/ collectible card games where Magic: The Gathering started it all. but beyblade? ... i leave no comment
