Description
So here we come up against a new idea: the Republic of Japan. Now, in Japan, republicanism has always been a weird issue because while the country is in all respects already a republic with an utterly powerless monarchy, Japan is so hell-bent on maintaining its Emperor that there's practically no way it could ever really abolish its monarchy unless something fundamental about its society changed. Meanwhile, for the actual flag, it's pretty obvious that this is meant to be a cherry blossom, but why go about changing the original Hinomaru? I'll tell you why: the complicated history of the HinomaruΒ and its legacy as a relic of the imperialist history of Japan. Believe me, that was already a big enough issue in real-world history, so why not create an entirely new flag for a new Japan?Related content

For the last decade and a bit there has actually been slow but steady growth in support for a return of some level of power to the Monarch believe it or not.
Makes me wonder if that would just make them like the British royals or if the end goal to to give the chrysanthemum throne equal power to the prime-minister.Β

Considering the competence and rhetoric from Shinzo Abe's administration and related cronies, along with the current attitudes by Reiwa Tenno. It's not hard to see why.

Why what's wrong with them? I feel like I'm missing something since I don't follow Japanese politics.

The Heisei and Reiwa Tenno disapprove of the militarist and far-right rhetoric of Shinzo Abe and his lackeys. Relatively recently, Abe and his wife were involved in a scandal revolving favoritism, one of them was a contract for property developing a school.

Mabye the people are just tired of a democracy that was placed on them by their occupyers. People want things done and democracy doesn't really get things done. Or mabye they hope that a monarchy will bring some societal changes, making a fair society. I'm not against capitalism, but I understand the damage 4th stage capitalism can cause.Β

I wasn't making any particular kind of point about government, just that there was growing support for restoring power to the imperial household.Β

Neither am I given a decent chunk of the population still consider the imperial family divine despite Hirohito renouncing that status after WWII.

You should try making the flags first in Inkscape or Illustrator, and then convert it to PNG.
