Liechtenstein is the last remaining piece of the Holy Roman Empire, so let's fix that shall we? Thus is born the Alpine Republic of Liechtenstein. Now, funny story with Liechtenstein's flag: In 1936, they realized that their flag was identical to that of Haiti, so they modified it by putting a princely crown in the canton. Now, let's keep that theme by replacing it with a phrygian cap to represent liberty and revolution, the ideals of republicanism. And voila, the only nation entirely within the Alps now has a cool hat to represent itself with. Granted, in such a circumstance it might as well just join up as a canton of Switzerland, but who knows. Liechtenstein is one of those things that I could consider "The Scraps of History", where it exists solely because someone forgot it was there.
