Intimidating height aside, Maya would be best described as a large dog with how he would loyally follow after anyone who treats him nicely and is naturally tolerant with all sorts of people. Due to his pacifistic nature, it would be easy for anyone to push him around as he's slow to anger --bordering on difficult really. One thing many have noted is that Maya is open with showing his affection (hugs and kisses seem common thing to him), and can be very generous when treating other people to food or items (If they openly state their interest anyway). However, he may or may not end up imitating habits or things he picks up from others (especially those he admires) and is quite sheltered due to often being pampered by his mom. Actually it would be rare to see him not eating or chewing anything and has poor hygiene with how he would often have crumbs on his face leftover or not washing his hands after eating chips and then touching someone with it smh. He's pretty indifferent, debates and the like are things he usually avoids or just rather not participate in if he could help it. Because of this, Maya can be tactless and just lacks delicacy in handing his words about sensitive topics, perhaps to the point that it can even cause misunderstandings.

Maya also has a rather poor attention span and could appear rude by wandering off in the middle of a conversation once he finds something of more interest. He doesn't mean any harm by it but just lacks awareness of how his actions could come off as disrespectful or inappropriate to some despite how he is generally good-natured.

Growing up in California, Maya's childhood was relatively normal --if you can ignore how his family was fairly well off anyways. His father worked as a musician to pass time rather than for income, mostly taking part in providing bgm in expensive hotels, bars or restaurants while his mother worked as a variety show host. They had claimed to have been idols in the past, something they'd often look back upon fondly when the family had gathered around and was also well versed with a couple of instruments. His dad with the violin and his mom with the piano, sometimes doing mini performances for their kids and something that sparked Maya's interest in the musical field with the innocent dream of performing along with them.

Soon enough he tried to imitate their skills, he tried to dance but found himself ungracefully tripping on his own two feet. He also tried to sing but somehow he always had problems hitting high notes or rapping which his parents were able to do with ease. Eventually, Maya decided on learning how to play an instrument, he'd come to bother his mom every time to teach him piano or guitar whenever she was free; and his father would then join their little jamming session and teach him how to play other instruments he knew of. There was something that bothered Maya though, that despite having learned various musical pieces there wasn't a single instrument he excelled in --until he learned about the cello anyways. It was somewhat like a bigger version of his father's violin and as he tried it, he found himself getting accustomed to it easily, his mom even commenting on how he had an affinity towards it (something he took to heart even though she may have only said it because it matched his height) and before long he no longer rotated with different instruments and was fixated on the cello.

Now whilst Maya did enjoy playing the cello, it took a bit of a back seat in his life when he got older and became more of a hobby instead. He couldn't spend the whole day away cooped up at home, not when he was very active and enjoyed the various sports his parents introduced to him. Born as the 4th and youngest child, everyone treated him kindly and doted on him, (except maybe his dad who was a bit of a little shit but all in good fun). Everything was pretty much smooth sailing for Maya at that point, the relationship in his family was rather good, although his parents bickered every now and then it was never anything too serious. Unfortunately, during his elementary days, Maya was said to be quiet or expressionless by kids his age, he found it difficult to convey his thoughts to them and in turn intimidated the kids from befriending him. It was confusing since he got along with his family alright--so why couldn't he towards others? He learns later on that this was due to being smothered by his family. They all talked to him so all he had to do was reply, and being the youngest meant they already anticipated his needs so he didn't have to ask for anything. Basically they were very thorough in taking care of him which led to Maya's inability to express himself properly to others.

So around middle school he started to try changing this part of himself and became more initiative in regards to socializing with others; although he didn't always go out of his way to befriend everyone (and still ate a lot). As the years went by, he grew a bit more talkative and expressive, showing his affection to those he admired and openly stating his thoughts--much to the embarrassment of others around him. It was also here that he learned about the prestigious Clefford Conservatory, something that briefly reminded him of why he'd been interested in the cello in the first place. With newfound interest to better himself, Maya decided to devote more of his time practicing the cello rather than sports. It came to be a bit of a surprise to not only his family but his classmates as well with how he seemed to have taken a sudden disinterest in outdoor activities as every offer to play would be declined immediately before he went on his way home. Sadly, he had no real idea on where to start since it was just his parents giving him pointers and such before, Maya had to look up various things and references to know about the cello. Taking the time to listen to various pieces and such, he found himself more drawn to classical music and started practicing pieces of those he heard of before trying out other genres as well (which he also liked). This went on till the end of his middle school years.

With Maya not bothering to voice out any complaints as he focused on improving his skills first before anything, having already decided that he would be aiming for the school once he was certain he was ready. He was then enrolled into a normal high school despite their wealth --mostly because it was closer to home than anything; and Maya did well in his academics (thanks to his mom being studious herself and was an overall good influence). He got along alright with his peers and didn't really bother to stand out either as he was too engrossed over what he'd eat for dinner and simply continued polishing his skills with the cello, taking hours to practice that it hadn't become odd to pass by his room late at night and still hear him playing. He had a good sense of rhythm, his mom had took note and even suggested that he took some classes if he was that into it. Maya refused the suggestion as he had wanted to get into Clefford solely with his ability to prove himself and continued to practice on his own whilst keeping his plans for the future to himself.

Although surprised (and his mom being fairly hesitant), Maya eventually persuaded them to agree and seeing as Maya caused no trouble nor asked for anything all this time, they figured it was the least they could do and opted to be supportive of his decisions instead. They were worried about his living style however as he was very disorganized and suggested he stay at the dorms and with a reliable roommate if possible. After that it was just the audition and filling out various documents before setting off for Europe. Having not received any professional lessons prior, Maya was honestly a little nervous but resolved that if he was gonna do this then he wouldn't half-ass anything. All those years practicing won't be wasted and now it was time to prove it. Surely enough, he had passed and it was time to start a new chapter of his life.

Tl;dr: Generally vanilla childhood, a rich mama's boi who was inspired by his skilled parents to get in on the music action bc he just wanna make his mama proud of him even though she already is.

Maya's overall style and performance can something you can compare to seducing the audience, playfully teasing at the beginning but slowly draws the listener's attention and has a rather sensual flare to it. He aims to bring emotion into all his pieces and shows a lot of proficiency with his movements, not making anything too exaggerated or distracting as he wants the piece to be center stage.

Meanwhile as for preference in music, it ranges from modern to classical to jazz thanks to both his parents not really sticking to any particular genre themselves and how he basically had to learn various pieces through trial and error that made him learn the various appeals of different genres. He does, however; lean more onto pieces that sustains notes or have a certain intensity to it much in contrast to how he is as a person. He also likes to make little improvisations to certain pieces, like giving classical ones a modern twist and such. He chose his elective solely for the reason that he wanted to work in a group with others.

[Schedule]

Wakes up early so he has more time to eat in the dining hall. This routine stemmed from back then when his dad would keep distracting his mom from cooking so all he'd get is oatmeal before going to school. You'll definitely always find him in the dining hall first thing in the morning www.

After classes he can mostly be found in these locations:
Dining hall (Almost always here during break time, tho he likes to eat outside if the weather is particularly good)
Cafes (Can usually be spotted here around the afternoon)

Maya's overall style and performance can something you can compare to seducing the audience, playfully teasing at the beginning but slowly draws the listener's attention and has a rather sensual flare to it. He aims to bring emotion into all his pieces and shows a lot of proficiency with his movements, not making anything too exaggerated or distracting as he wants the piece to be center stage.

Meanwhile as for preference in music, it ranges from modern to classical to jazz thanks to both his parents not really sticking to any particular genre themselves and how he basically had to learn various pieces through trial and error that made him learn the various appeals of different genres. He does, however; lean more onto pieces that sustains notes or have a certain intensity to it much in contrast to how he is as a person. He also likes to make little improvisations to certain pieces, like giving classical ones a modern twist and such. He chose his elective solely for the reason that he wanted to work in a group with others.

Wakes up early so he has more time to eat in the dining hall. This routine stemmed from back then when his dad would keep distracting his mom from cooking so all he'd get is oatmeal before going to school. You'll definitely always find him in the dining hall first thing in the morning www.

After classes he can mostly be found in these locations:
Dining hall (Almost always here during break time, tho he likes to eat outside if the weather is particularly good)
Cafes (Can usually be spotted here around the afternoon)
Shopping Center (Usually on the weekends, either stocking up on more junk food smh)
Outdoor communal space (the pool) (Alternatively he can be found here on the weekends)
Hyde Park (He likes to go jogging late in the evening and see if there are anyone walking their doggos httg)
Practice Room (Mostly goes here after dinner as he can't focus practicing with an empty stomach. may or may not be found dozing off however)
His room (Mostly at night time because bed time for the kiddies, sometimes he'd be up studying or facetiming his fam www!)
