Yes thats if you want to save it to work on it again later. This format saves the layer information its important. Now reopen the file and

-Go to file

-Save as

- you will get a windows panel and a unique
save as type bar click on it

-Now you can change the file to
Png
Jpeg
Bitmap
Or psd for photoshop.
