Description One of my ACs from Last Raven, built with form over function, but yeah. Tried a new way to colour, no lines. Didn't take me as long as i thought it would. About 8 hours over the course of a few days. Lost motivation half way though, then regained it. xD

Also, i didnt feel like reffing constantly, so some of the parts are off.

Most of my ACs in Last Raven I built for speed and maneuverability with shotguns amd machine guns.

This honestly looks like a pretty decent design overall. Although without knowing the boosters, FCS, generator or radiator I can't know for sure.

Hmm i think this was mostly just as aesthetic build, but I definitely was still able to beat a lot of the game with it.

you know it! Thats how from software would do it for the ACs on their cover designs. Then when you fought them they'd just cheat and change the stats to make them invincible. fucking raven number 1 in last raven asdfsfsdfs

All my AC's were superheavyweight bipeds, and could go toe to toe with just about anything. In testing, 12 direct hits from the 5400 damage per shot (before armor reduction) Linear Cannon took it down to just over half health. My biggest danger was running out of ammo with a bazooka, 12 shot linear gun, and whatever I had in my left arm (typically a rocket launcher, hand howitzer, or the heaviest blade I still had weight for). A core with the gun shoulders offset the danger of running out of ammo though, which was nice.

owo sounds bamf haha. I still couldn't beat that game. But I came close with an mid weight reverse air type, with all micro missiles basically.

Slaughter (my super-heavyweight black and red AC) was a specialized AC killer, I took the top ranked AC down basically without trying. Had the top rating possible for quality when its stats were examined. Sat down and blasted it with the Linear cannon to bring it down to about 1/4 health and finished it off with bazooka. I still remember the mission where you have to fight 5 ACs from the arena over the course of it, 1 then 2 at once, then another 2. They all went down in fairly short order and I still had ammo to finish the mission.

I had a middleweight and a lightweight too, but the superheavy generator I used combined with efficient boosters, few energy weapons, and good energy management allowed me to move close to the same rate as a lightweight AC almost continuously.

If you REALLY want to build a good AC, it takes a little number crunching. Determine ratio of thrust to energy use, total damage capacity (damage per shot multiplied by number of shots), etc. For example, the standard model bazooka has more total damage output than any other one because of their reduced ammo capacity. Other than that, the design developed out of the original 3 games where there was no heat or anything, and against some arena enemies it was actually a perfectly viable strategy to simply dodge all of your enemy's shots until they ran empty and didn't have a sword or other guns, at least on the lower tier enemies. Later on the games start to get a little biased against superheavyweights because everything creates so much heat that you'll take 3/4 of your total damage in any given fight due to overheating, but I don't think that was an issue in Nexus although I don't have that one to be sure. (I have Armored Core, AC: Project Phantasma, AC: Master of Arena, AC2, AC2: Another Age, AC3, AC: Silent Line (which is built off AC3), AC: Nine Breaker, and AC: Last Raven). Basically look for the highest total damage output possible (rockets are actually EXTREMELY good for that if you can aim them, great for missions)

When using your boosters on the ground, constantly double tap. You will boost up to your boosting speed, then the second tap will launch you into a hop where you can let off the button and recharge power while still moving the same speed, and it makes you incredibly hard to hit.

Oh, yeah I know about the technique, I've beaten ac2, ac2 another age, ac3, silent line, ac4, and ac4a. Just cant get through last raven still. I think my biggest problem really is aiming. Like I just cant freaking get enough hits on the top ranker, and he just pumble's me, and i end up getting stuck. Its pretty anoying.

GunslingerDragon In reply to ModalMechanica [2011-02-15 02:00:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, they mixed the controls up in Nexus and those, which was kind of nice and kind of not. Weird getting used to the whole new control scheme, even if it's what you're used to from FPS games and whatnot. Sometimes the top ranker's cheat a bit, the AC series is kind of prone to them always knowing exactly where you are even if they have no way to know due to lack of radar (although in some supposedly there's an Optional part that functions as the best radar you can get)

Guh the controls are weird, and the fcking AIs are soooo op in that game. Its ridiculous

GunslingerDragon In reply to ModalMechanica [2011-02-15 23:42:46 +0000 UTC]

So far the only enemy I've really had problems with being overpowered was the MT's from Silent Line that were insanely fast, heavily armored, and heavily armed, that I think were built superior to Slaughter (at least they were after I fought through the entire mission first, taking hits along the way)

I know that some of the late AC games let you choose which of the two control schemes you want, although I like the one using the control sticks more because it frees up more buttons for things.
