For me this doesn't so much look like rust, but instead copper. Like when I first saw this I had flashbacks to the copper masks of victory. Though then my second though was how awesome this would look on a toa of plantlife with browns in it's color scheme.

But I think this is a fine rusty texture. Notice how the surface is not smooth but rough.
