Description Kendra was enjoying the show. The Lyrids were as wonderful a show as any meteor shower. She mused how each shower had its own character. The Lyrids always seemed as if someone was tossing tiny pieces of burning paper upon the Earth. She loved the outdoors as much as the Heavens and was very thankful that she lived where she could enjoy the night sky and the woods nearby. Life had not always been so kind…

Though she knew they were not falling stars and it meant nothing to wish on any of them she still wished and wondered and was filled with hopefulness. She thought to herself it was a wish come true to be enjoying the cool weather of spring and the night time noises. She had her favorite sheepskin hoodie and her furry boots. She was teased to ribbons by her peers for those boots but she didn’t care. They were so warm and comfortable and she always had the last laugh in the deep snows of winter.

“There is that strange flickering again…” She often noticed this strange flickering that looked to her much like heat lightning or bright pops of light but no one else ever saw them. Sometimes she tried to find the source of these strange lights as one chases down the location of spotlights shining high into the sky. But she never could find the cause of this strange phenomena. “This time it seems so very close, and so constant, and yet so dim compared to what I usually see…” She was sure it was close enough for her to find despite the light seeming to fade away even as she moved to find its source.  She made a wish that she would find out once and for all what it was and know that it was real, that she was NOT crazy or weird as people thought…

What would you ask a pixie?I am quite possessed by this story of mine...
(updated April 19, 2019)
What would you ask Chenelle about herself, or about pixies at large?

Chenelle
Yes it is a scrappy pic, but it is so fun and genuine...

Ecstatic pixie!!!

I totally need to do a finer version of this piece...

Three years I have known Chenelle.

Thank you all for walking with us. Truly I appreciate every thought, question, remembrance, and art piece you share!!! If I did not post something you sent (or you want your art removed from here) no stress either way! Just send me a note...

====================================

Happy “Welcoming Day” Chenelle! April 19 is your special day!!! So glad you are here… <3

Some behind the scenes trivia:

-I should have drawn the constellation Lyra in there but after ‘drawing’ a starry night sky it would have seemed out of place to drop it in.
-Yes, the telescope looks a bit lame… Oh well!
-Her hands are in her pockets because it is cool out (and I have not had the opportunity (or talent) to study people to see how the hands properly hang at ones side)
(yes, you can pass judgement for my not drawing the hands. I am guilty as judged!!!)
-I intended to have her in jeans as is her preference but it just kept not working out. I also wanted to add more canvas texture to the hoodie…
-I really wanted to portray the fireballs the Lyrids are but couldn’t pull it off. But you should go out and see them, they are wonderful!!!
-I wanted to do this in watercolor (and still may sometime) but it seems the style of this tale is set in ‘digital’. I’m ok with that but it is interesting to me that it is so.

pretty well work, I like the sky the most <3 you can work on the body curves and shading, but still it's not bad :3

and what are the Lyrids? they are something like falling stars, right?xd

The Lyrids are a meteor shower. They happen every April usually around the 15th-20th.

While I am not any of my OCs, and none are me, I do like looking at the stars, Moon, planets, and meteor showers... Spring and summer have a lot of them although the Leonids, Quadrantids, and Geminids are a wonderful winter showers. There is almost always something happening up in the sky. Skymaps.com has a free map for download every month. There are plenty of sites dedicated to meteor showers and calandars so you can know when to be more vigilant for falling stars, lol.

I almost didn’t shade at all, it was an experiment for sure. But I’m glad I did try because it turned out better that I expected. I did have some adding and erasing of her curves which was a double challenge for me: getting the symmetry/proportions even and also not making her too ‘hippy’/ correct shape as she is around 12 years old. Lol, I’m still trying to draw her face consistently. But I am still practicing so that is good.

And drawing the sky was total fun. I still want to draw ‘The Lights’ more too.

I didn't know it. We can learn every day new things

I do like looking at sky too, but don't know any detailed things about constellations and how to look at them. I didn't see any meteor shower in my life, I suppose. But it's pretty interesting to know that site, I am checking this out now and looks like there will be meteor shower at about 6th May, right

Ok, so it's pretty justified I thought, she is adult woman.

So, keep practicing then. I am looking forward for more skies from you
