This canvas almost ended up in the fire. Literally. Because I wanted to burn it and then some...

I decided to paint an eclipse (love the topic!) using oils/canvas. And it actually was going pretty well. Until either one of my brushes, the walnut oil/thinner, or the rag I was using had loose fuzz on or in it... [insert swear words here]

Even though it now looked like every animal on The Ark came by and shed on it (s#%t on it?) I decided to just keep going. Wiping it off would only mean more cleanup. And perhaps when it was dry it would look better. And besides, most people look at stuff from further away than I was and may not notice it (much). Other happy accidents were as I mixed the hills color 'marbled', not mixing it to death it happened that it highlighted the hilltops perfectly. I totally did not plan that so that was awesome!

After an hour or two away from it I go back to see how it's drying. And it has RUNS in it!!! NGAHHHHH!!!! [many more swear words and epithets very quickly becoming icy cold Irish silence]. So I try to touch up and brush that out. Which only spreads the fuzz all over everything more. In fixing it I also had to brush out the rays of the Sun more. Which really destroyed the original well done halo and negative space that I wanted. And it REALLY showed the fuzz in the rays when I did that... Now it looks like a ridiculous flower or something.

And so it went like this for a couple of days. New problem, new fix, creating new problems on top of problems being fixed, ... You get the idea.

I don't hate it per se. I love the serenity and somewhat abstract look of this. I console myself that the fuzz all over it looks like 'sparkles' (I do not believe my lies to myself on that but I will keep trying to focus on the positives). I am sure that when it is completely dry I can brush it off and pick some stuff out/off of it (or at least I hope...) In seeing that the Sun looks like a flower I also am trying to 'respect the painting' and have named it accordingly.
