Description
Small snail shell that has seen better days, even the spirals were coming apart. love the texture. My focus of macro stuff has always been how fantastic things are if we just stopped and took notice of whats around us.Related content

This is a photo done with a very classic flare. It definitely reminds me of a lot of large format work done by the masters from the turn of the 20th century through to the 1940's.
The macro shot does show the crack as a prominent feature, not only because the title demands that you search for it visually, but because it also runs perpendicular to shell spiral which is the other strong line in the photo.
The choice of using a shallow depth of field was a good one. By minimizing the contrast of the subject's outer edge, you keep the viewer's focus on the details.
Simple and well executed, I see no overt flaws in the image.

Thank you for the well written critique.
My brother has recently purchased a large format camera which I have been inspired by the old style quality large formats have.I have a digital so I have to try my best to capture the same as the large formats.

Thinking again of my original comment, Mark. This would make a fine devID for you, broken but still beautiful.
God bless you,
Steve

This is excellent. Even though it's just a shell, it is very raw and real. Does that make sense? Anyway, excellent job!

Our deepest beauty only becomes visible when we let our cracks and brokenness be seen.

Yes I agree totally, I believe peoples flaws is what makes them interesting and unique and without thier vulnerabilities we would not see the real person behind thier shell..

Now that's REAL art. Amazing DOF, great mood and lighting, and the composition is spot-on. A wall print, for sure!

Thanks but it would only be a handful of people that would hang it on thier wall cos its not a naked person haha and if its not a naked person they dont wanna know about it.
But on the same note I would rather genuine viewers and comments other than people who just wanna look at someone nakey nakey

Gasp! Are you saying that the appreciation level of art on DA has degenerated to such a state that predominately its members prefer to look only at images of naked women rather than the entire spectrum of beauty and creativity available to them???!!!!1111
If so, I totally agree with you.... Few people think with their hearts or minds these days. It's usually the contents of the pants that does the thinking....
