Happy Official Mother's Day everyone!If there's one scene that I could try explain the creation of the bond that Kitty and Susan have, it is this scene.
Kitty did run out of the Ed and Susan's wedding at the church where she ran to hide at Anna's grave site. The wedding was the boiling point after months of frustration watching Susan quickly enter into both her and her father's lives (in fact the Engel family really like Susan, going as far as saying she was a worthy choice for Ed's new wife).
It was Susan and Susan alone who went after Kit in the rain, finding her sitting next to a grave stone crying. She reassured Kitty that she didn't want to replace her mother but just wanted to be part of her life, as she grew attached to Kitty in the last few years. The only thing Kitty could do was just to bury herself into Susan and cry uncontrollably, calling her the first of many times... Mor.

May I offer a suggestion about the text? Since the background is dark, make it white or otherwise very light. For most text (other than big, short titles) the #1 concern is readability - and that requires a strong dark-light contrast. (Contrasting hues, such as red vs. green, are not helpful. The contrast has to be dark vs. light.) On a dark background, use white or another very light color; on a light background, use black or another very dark color. Avoid "medium" backgrounds for text; if you can't avoid them, use a drop shadow in a contrasting color.

Thanks! Not a god, just a teacher. I used to teach multimedia before I retired, and I used to emphasize readability to my students. (Some of them loved combinations like red on blue, which is especially troublesome - it flickers, and makes a weird stereo effect because of the way our eye lenses work.
I recall one bit of bad text contrast from way back: Mosaic, the first successful web browser, from about 1993. Text was deep royal blue on a navy blue background, and of course you couldn't change the colors in those days. Good luck reading THAT!

Thanks! Fortunately Netscape came out shortly after Mosaic, with a new version of HTML that allowed color changes. And I think most web designers had already figured out that they needed a different color scheme for text.
My vision is nothing special. (I'm nearsighted.) I do seem to have good color perception though.
Purple? I'd guess you are referring to Your art teacher lied to you , where I wrote about my problems making purple. (I got brown.) The trouble is that practically all red pigments have too much orange in them compared to magenta. Cyan works well, making the magenta just a little darker and more blue. Blue plus yellow pigment makes a reasonable green, though cyan plus yellow is even better because the green is cleaner, with no tendency toward black; yellow plus red makes a perfectly good orange.

New is always easier, but that shows the amount of hard work people dealed with before for being willing to do it, even tough certain programmers end up with brown instead of purple...

Whoever wrote the program for Mosaic was a brilliant programmer, who anticipated and solved a great many problems. But that person was not a graphic designer! (Neither was I. I tried mixing red and blue in my teens, and did not learn about cyan & magenta until many years later. I did not understand why I wasn't getting the purple I had been told to expect.)
Black not a color? Wow. I wonder, as you get darker and darker, when she would have said that "dark X" stops being a color.

All I knew was I just wanted to apologize to her and call her Mor.

*Susan stands next to Kit, her height going up to her chest. Kit still looks down at the floor. Susan reaches up and gently strokes one of her cat ears. Kit's ears wiggle a bit and she closes her eyes a little, smiling. Her head slowly bending down towards her Mor as she keeps stroking. You see her tail swaying in the background before it gently rests on Susan's shoulder.*
Susan: Hm hm. She made quite a spectacle on that day as I recalled. She ran pass me and Dad without even knowing it. In fact, I remember she got herself a big cup of hot coco to warm her up after being in the rain.
*Kitty's face blushes a little as she enjoys the ear stokes she's receiving*
