[FULL VIEW IS A MUST][EDIT] Got rid of hiddeous pastemark * j4m3sb0nd mentioned and fixed up lighting as was commented on by *d1git , pluss fixed up the stars a bit... and some spelling mistakes in description...
sorry bout all the fix ups, but i just want it to be perfect...

Comments: Well, its been a LONG time since i have submited anything, so this makes up for it...
i got booted out of *Spaceartists for not being good enough, so it got me inspired to get on my ass and do some good space art...
so yeah...

Information:
I made the landscape shot in a 3d land modeling program called Terragen. The rest was done in photoshop CS from scratch. Except for the boat's, and spaceship's shape... which i got from HERE and HERE .
Tools: Terragen, Photoshop CS
Hours taken: Land took 20 min to design then 2 hours to render the image, and photoshoping took 5 - 6 hours.
Times: 12:01am - 1:00am, 10:13am - 3:15pm

great pic, dig it, especially the rings, though I can see JPEG compression noise on the meteor, a pic of that res deserves more KBs

take the JPEG, and the original PSD, zoom in and compare them, you'll note this characteristic "noise" on the meteor

Nice work mof. The photo is a nice start for a scene. The planet is well executed, though the texture is a bit dull. The cloud, or nebula, whatever it is in the sky is too over powering. It's much too thick and doesn't allow a smooth transition.
The meteor/comet needs some more fire effects, its a huge rock with a small white tail.
And what d1git said isn't all that true. Yes, we removed people for being inactive, but its also true that we were trying to keep more advanced artists in the group. Those who hadn't developed much since the first pack we removed.

The purple haze is just too thick, theres no nice black space with a starfield. It just kinda looks ugly with all that purple over powering the sky.

they say that i didnt show enought progress between devpacks, they are trying to refine their group to have the best, so yeah, i would still be in, if i had made the effort, but i got my last year of skool to worry about... i need my High School Cirtificate more than i need to be in their little group...

Good work, but the moons on the right seems like just spheres whitout any texture on it. The texture you used on the left isn't so good, I think you need to search for a better one next time. Some asteroids in the planet rings would be good. The asteroid that is falling is kind of weird becuase it has like a laser tail, is it a meteor or some kind of laser? Good work on the clouds though although they look a little noisie, I hope you didn't used a nasa huble picture for this, becuase it looks a lot like it :\

nah man, no, nasa pictures... all from scratch.
and yeah, the little moons DO have some texture, its just they are too small to see it, and i didnt really thing moons needed atmosphere either, so they remained little floating spheres...
the texture of the planet on the left is from scratch, no texture file used, its all airbrushing tool, so yeah...
and yes, the meteor tail does look McCrappy... i shall fix it another day...

well done. , dig the nebula and the planet's textures.. although I can't really tell where the planet is being lit from... maybe make the lighting a bit more dynamic?
wanted to let you know that we didn't boot anyone for being "not good enough" we booted them for being inactive for too long and not staying alive in the community. Things will change soon though so if you are interested keep an eye on it.
