Description
**Juny Edit**After the discovery of art thefting some of my works, I've decided to be more strict about watermarking eveything I put up here.
The old image have been removed and replaced by this one. Plus some color and effect tweaks to make it look cooler :3
I've also removed the 2nd preview (this is the first one) because it looked so crappy

Hi! It wasnt really my intentions to make any picture of this yet ^^, because Im not finished with the modelling work or even started to think about texturing
However I had a job offer I couldnt look away, and they wanted to see some of my work. So I quickly did a few renders of the First Tsurugi which Ive been working on lately! Since I have these renders, I've decided to put it up here for everyone to see how it is going with the swords ^^
I hope you like them!
For more story and info about how I work with the sword, you can go here ^^

I like this, Actually, i used some of it to reference from when i made mine, but fixed some of your clipping errors, such as the hollow blade clipping with the core blade. exceptional detail with the blades, but your hilt needs more work

so im a live model maker. im trying to work on making a wooden version of this that seperates ( i dont care if the main body opens) but if i can do the seperation of the swords in any way shape or form i will be happy. do you have any idea as to how they lock etc. and if you could please give me some tips on how to open the center as well ( though that is not a priority)

Hi! Sorry for the very late message!
Im afraid I cannot give out my models, and I dont know if there is a 3D model of the sword somewhere available. You might try turbosquid.com, however it might also be a small fee to pay for the model.

Im afraid making cloud is a bit out of my league at the moment ^^, but I can redirect you to [link] This guy is a big FF fan as myself, and have a great dedication in his 3D works ^^ He have made cloud with the first tsurugi sword!

Ah, thanks for the link.
I still think you should give Cloud a try, though. Your Sora is really good.

No problem!
I might do cloud or some other FF characters one day, however first I want to learn more about making basic characters in 3D before I jump into a such big project
Sora needs more work as well o.o:

You'll do good! You might be able to absorb all the designs you copied and be able to create your own That'd be the first step.. I think

That will be either the keyblade as in spinning 3D.
Or a beauty render of the gunblade
Which one would you like to see first?

best swords ever! and how ambitious of you to make these in 3d. i have Maya and use it but would never dream of having enough time to make a model like that in my free time. O.o

Hehe. Yeah, it was much more complicated than I thought However, its still just lots of basic shapes put together so its sure possible to make it with some lil effort and time :3

Nojuego [2007-06-24 14:43:28 +0000 UTC]
My experience/education is in engineering. I'm gonna try to design the parts to have the swords lock in place then hand it off to a machining shop to have it made. Something like this cannot be forged there are just too many complicated parts. Even in the world of FF7 this sword can only be made through machining. It's huge mass is what allows it to cut not the blade.
I figured out most of the parts but like you said, i'm also having trouble with the back blades. I was thinking some kind of hook on the insides with the base blade sort of clamping down but then the back edges would be rather free which would eventually cause things to break. I'll have to look over this stuff in more detail once I get some time but I do think theres a way to pull it off.

Nojuego [2007-06-21 16:54:31 +0000 UTC]
This sword is definitely doable. I was thinking of having this thing made for me but i'm running into small problems with the locking mechanisms. Your models are the best i've seen and have given me quite a few ideas on assembly issues. If you can come up with a few close up shots from different angles i'm sure I could figure out some way to work it out. End product might not be quite as clean looking as in the movie but definitely functional.

mogcaiz In reply to Nojuego [2007-06-23 13:03:09 +0000 UTC]
The techical part of the assembly the swords are probably doalbe, I havent thought so much about it.
Most of the swords are doable as well, however the back swords are not if you would make the real life swords 100% accurate.
They have an impossible geometry of the blade, because its bendt on the top :-/
Anyways, do you have any experience or education about swordmaking or similar? Im curious about the possibilites of this sword as well ^^
