I mean Wow, i love this! Not only is the subject you're working on just completely adorable, however, you've captured a good sense of light, and i think it's a good choice to have had this picture in black and white thus adding to the affect.
I may not have all those big words, because there are little words that i can use to express about how wonderfully you've caught this picture, the kitten is a sharp, bold, component to the whole picture, whilst the background blurs into a mix, and you know only the best cameras can perform so well with the help of an artist holding it, really wonderful. 9And if you know the kitty, say hello for me!)

The chosen angle and proximity to the subject creates an intimate atmosphere. When combined with the large babyish eyes and the helpless expression it evokes a maternal instinct to protect and care for the infant. The tender touch of the hand conveys that instinctive emotion more naturally than words can.
The stark emotion and beauty of the scene is enhanced by your choice to eliminate color. The simplicity of the gray tones makes the kitten's face, and especially eyes, pop to the viewer emphasizing it's vulnerability while the lighter grays and whites seem to emphasize it's innocence and "newness"; feelings I believe would have lessened with the addition of color.
All in all this is a wonderfully moving image. Thank you for sharing it.

wow, this picture is brillent, honestly this peice is beutiful, i can see the vunrability of the kitten, it realy warms me up inside
it realy makes me think about life and death, 'cause of the look in the small creatures eyes makes me wonder why would any one hurt or halm somthing so small and hopless.
The title is also very affective, because to me it shows that there is some amazeing people out there who do look after small mammles like these. and don't have harmful intentions.
Overall this piece is wonderful and beutiful from many angles.

Just amazing, oh this brong back so many memories of my little kitten called puppy taken away from me at 2 months old.
This kitten looks so scared and young, just beautiful.
The vision is truely...wow. Just one look at those beedy eyes and you start to feel for the little kitten.
Ive never seen any picture of a kitten this good! There millions of pictures of cats on devaint but these are one of the few that really stand out!
The technique is so pro! such soft lighting really does complement the the image of which is being captured.
The impact is just oh my gosh! i was truely taken into this picture and could picture myself holding my kitten.
I am touched.
I can not find words to describe what a wonderful feeling i am getting off this picture!
That is why i am feeling so bad i can not tell the artist what a awe-inspiring job they have done.
I have nothing but admiration to the person that captured this beautiful image.

Unlike WolfDarling, i think that this photo is very original. You do see many pictures of kittens, but they are always older, and more independant. and I've NEVER seen a picture even close to your's. the sweet innocence and helplessness in the kitten's expression is adorable. omg this is really goood!! are the eyes edited? somehow they dont look right. sorry for the low originality rating! everyone does a kitten pic though. ^-^ i like the b&w photograph and the blurred background. most cute kitten ever!!!! i love the facial exspresion of the kitty. although she looks kinda miserable. ><

I believe the biggest part of this photo is the impact it creates. A cute, helpless kitten in which eyes depict that all hope is lost gets a loving pet. So, you did GREAT on the impact.
The vision is good. It leaves a lot of room for implying (which in this case isn't bad.)

While the black and white may have been better then color for this photograph, it may have also made the picture a bit TOO depressing. The eyes, with the shimmer of light, are the best part. And the angle made the picture.

I love the focus and the soft bokeh of the background. The title fits with the image and creates a certain atmosphere that touches you.
Nevertheless, I wonder about the bright spots in the eyes. In my opinion it looks kind of creepy which destroys the atmosphere created by the other technical details and title.
Removing the bright spots would make this photo more natural..
Furthermore, I would like to see this picture in colour because black/white always has this "depressing" touch. I think that "being there for someone" is not a depressing thing and therefore doesn't deserve the black/white.

that's probably just my subjective view but most of the time b/w has a depressing vibe.
I just think that vibrant colours would be better for a kitten which is alive and looked after.

When I saw this, I couldn't resist the fullview, it's just so freakin cute. The detail of the skin and fur are really great, and the sharpness of the hand and face while everything else blurs really adds to the subject. With the ears down it looks so sad I wanna cuddle it and never let go xDD
However, as several commenters and another critiquer pointed out, the shines in the eyes kind of throw off the experience. To me, the kitten looks blind almost. It's reminiscent of the anime "crying eyes" effect with exaggerated multiple light shines, but being in the center of the eyes makes it almost look like some sort of physical defect.

My first impression of this picture was good, and I was halfway through an "aw" when I stopped and noticed the eyes. While I think the contrast and depth of focus of the rest of the picture is just about perfect, I can't help but wonder why you edited that little face like this. The white circles covering the pupils looks unnatural, and it makes the whole image look unnecessarily cheap. For me, it ruins an otherwise outstanding photo.
Do some research to see how light hits cats' eyes. It shouldn't be too difficult to get a similar result where the reflections don't look so out of place.

In all my days of being a kitten lover and in my hopes of one day becoming a CRAZY cat lady! I have never seen something so moving, so sweet, and so sad all in one shot. It rips my heart out while giving it back to me in such sweet tears of joy.
His/her cute little face holds such a story that somehow you seem to capture in an endless shot of just sweet passion. The hand embracing this sweet little thing just makes all the difference in the world.
