PAST

I | "Storms and Silence"
    Born to a WindClan Queen and fathered by a Kittypet, she was one of two kits in her litter along with her brother. Named Softkit for her soft and downy fur, she was born with her eyes oddly underdeveloped. For the first moon of her life, she couldn't seem to close her eyelids and her eyes were entirely blind, teary and almost liquidy. Her Mother babied both of her kits, but was especially protective of Softkit and her Mother kept the young kit more or less ignorant of the impending danger of the rain. Softkit spent much of her younger moons being sickly in one way or another, but when she was about four moons old she started to show a promising health. She hit a growth spurt and her immune system was able to fight off her constant sicknesses. What's more, her eyes seemed to catch up with the rest of her body and began developing more and more. They stopped tearing and she began to be able to see increasingly better. Granted, the progress was slow. First she was able to detect light sources, then, over time, was able to point out colors. On one occasion her kithood curiosity got the better of her, and she snuck out of Camp. The results were disastrous as she not only ran face first into a briar patch, but she also nearly drowned in the growing rain water. Thankfully, she was saved by Breezepool. She was still a kit when the journey was going underway and was carried by her stubborn Mother just about the entire way.

II | "A Colorful World"
  Determined fit for Apprenticeship when the new territories were reached, she was able to be made an Apprentice at the normal age of 6 moons and became Softpaw. It has only been a moon since she was made an Apprentice, and although she is definitely hindered, she works hard and nearly tirelessly. More recently, her Mother grew became ill and died of greencough. While her Mother was in the Medicine Cat's Den, she forbade Softpaw from coming and seeing her as the Queen was terrified that her weaker kit would catch the sickness as well. The recent event of her Mother's death tore her up, but she was determined to put on a brave face. Mentored by Doebelly, she quickly learned to love life with all her heart. She looked forward to her days playing training with him, and the adventures the two had will always be close to her heart. Her vision has since improved so she can see more solidified blurs of color.

III | "Snowy Hearts"
  Softpaw became Softsnow when she reached twelve moons old. She is thrilled to have her Warrior name and is chomping at the bit to prove herself to the Clan, but is now struck with the catastrophe of Goldenstar's murder. She fears the Clans will never be the same again...

Summary |
    Growing up with poor (but improving) eyesight hasn't made life much of a challenge for this she cat. Despite her eyesight and the loss of her Mother at a young age, she was thrilled to become an Apprentice and learn all she could about the world around her. She was mentored by Doebelly and he has since become her best friend. Softpaw became Softsnow when she reached twelve moons old.
