Underground Caverns of Knothole Village, The Great Forest, Later At Night
Having sent Sonic and Rotor on a southern reconnaissance mission earlier in the day, Princess Sally Acorn was intrigued to see the duo return with a half-Roboticized rabbit that introduced herself as Bunnie Rabbot, who almost immediately showcased her combat talents against a gigantic Burrobot of Robotnik's that was tearing apart the Great Forest, and, alongside Sonic himself, came out victorious. The fact that Bunnie offered herself as Sally's hairdresser out of admiration made her even more impressive in the displaced royal's eyes. Thankfully, Rotor's technical knowhow had ensured Bunnie's robotic limbs would not leave a trace for Robotnik to track down.
With the day nearly over, Sally had allowed Bunnie to look over her appearance in a rare moment of privacy for just the both of them. While Sally herself sat on the purple throne her friends gifted her for "ceremonial morale-boosting purposes" as Sonic described it at the time, Bunnie was looking at her black hair which was held by a yellow fabric to make a ponytail and, all in all, did not go with Sally's pink fur or the blue boots she wore.
"Mah stars, Sally-girl," Bunnie remarked with the casual behavior the Princess was more than happy to encourage. "Come to think of it, you look a lot different from what Ah heard about you."
Forcing a laugh, no matter how embarrassed it was, Sally explained, "That's because I fell in a chemical vat while on a mission in Robotropolis, Bunnie. And what you're looking at right now is the result of me trying to restore my proper looks by myself."
"Ah, that would do it," Bunnie commented in good cheer, prompting a real laugh out of Sally.
After briefly considering her words, Sally then decided to ask, "What about you, Bunnie? What events led to you living by yourself until today?"
Seeing the thoughtful frown on Bunnie's face, Sally instantly got worried that she had touched a nerve, but Bunnie ultimately answered in a seemingly nonchalant way, "Stuff just happens, ya know?"
"I suppose so," Sally replied in an agreeing manner, remembering how unexpected Robotnik's rise to power was as a five year old, and seeing a mourning light in Bunnie's eyes that she knew all too well. If Bunnie was to ever open up about her family, though, it was important for her not to be rushed.
A knock was then heard nearby as the two young ladies saw Antoine D'Coolette, a coyote with blue eyes, tan fur, and blond hair, wearing a uniformed blue jacket with a red trim and gold shoulder pads that went with his boots, bow respectfully to the both of them. "Pardon me, Princess Sally, but I juzt wanted to say good night to you before I embarquer for slumber."
Responding with a polite smile, Sally replied, "Take care, Antoine!"
"Pleasant dreams, soldier boy," Bunnie called out kindly.
Taking their words graciously, Antoine bowed once more before heading off to bed, leaving the girls to chat once more.
"He may not seem like much," Bunnie began to say before adding, "but Ah can tell he's tryin' hard."
Nodding in agreement, Sally replied, "Antoine does have potential. Unfortunately, he needs to work on his priorities just as Sonic himself needs to."
"Oh," Bunnie let out in awkwardness before showing a questioning eye to Sally, "is it a love triangle?"
Sally snorted. "Oh, trust me, Bunnie, you're a bit late to see that kind of drama!" Proceeding to explain, Sally said, "To those two boys, it's more about their feuding egos. As for me being in the middle, well, my old teacher and nanny encouraged me to not focus on romance while there's still Robotnik to deal with."
"And the boys?"
With a sigh, Sally answered, "Julayla and Rosie encouraged them to be open for other options themselves. Antoine probably has his eyes set on me, but I can worry about that another day." The Princess then placed a supportive hand on Bunnie's Roboticized shoulder before saying, "As for Sonic? Please treat him well."
Bunnie blushed from the encouragement as well as acknowledgement, but nonetheless, replied happily, "Why thank you!"
