Ah, Gungrave is a new anime series baised off the videogame of the same name. Yashuhiro Nightow, creator of Trigun, is involved in it's creation (you can tell by the character design) as well as the creator of Hellsing, if I'm right.
The story is about Beyond the Grave, a dead man brought back to life by a Dr Tokioka. Formally known as Brandon Heat when he was still alive he's now aimed at getting revenge against a syndicate that runs an enitire city. His friends Harry McDowel betrayed and killed him, then became head of this syndicate. He's also protects Mika, daughter of his old love Maria and Big Daddy, the former head before Harry.

At the begining it starts right from Brandon's youth, when him and Harry were still out on the streets then progresses on through time until just about EVERYTHING goes wrong.

Right now the only way you can watch it is either get the dvds from Japan or download the episodes from bittorrent. Even though this series is based of a game, it is not like other series that are based off of games. Yes there is good action, however it focuses heavily on the plot development and the character's emotions, beliefs, and lives.

I love this series, and recommend it to anyone.
