well, i've seen 'em three times.
the first time was for 'the soft bulletin' tour and i had just discovered them.. it was the tour where they broadcasted the show over short range radio into headphones they provided; my friend and i got the last two pairs. the show was amazing. i'd never seen anything like it. they blew my mind..
i saw them a couple years later for the 'yoshimi..' tour when they were opening up and playing with beck. it wasn't as good. a bigger spectacle, but i was let down. it was the same thing as 'the soft bulletin' tour with some different songs...
the third time was when they were touring with modest mouse and a bunch of other folks on some larger tour dealy thing. it was so fucking loud.. it was so much better than when i saw them with beck. again, though, it was the same idea as the other shows.

i just hope when the new album comes out and they tour they do something else.
maybe do the polyphonic spree thing and bring an assload of humans with them.. i dunno... they're worth seeing none the less, though.

yeah, well, for me that's where they lost me..
i'm a fan of their crazy, psychedelic, overload you with sound stuff. 'the soft bulletin' and 'zaireeka' are two of the greatest albums ever recorded (in my opinion at least).. i hope their new one ("At War With The Mystics" i believe it's called) isn't a let down..
their documentary, 'the fearless freaks', is great, though!
