I really like how you managed to capture the sunlight going through the trees, and how you made the river the focal point. It doesn't strain the eyes and there's something interesting all over the canvas.

Thank you for the very kind comments.  I tried to capture the play of sunlight and shadow because I find it so beautiful in nature.  I have a lot to learn about how to capture that in a painting.  Maybe some day....

Thank you very much.  I used a great photo by Oer-Wout as the inspiration.  I have also tried to learn from the paintings of Artsaus.  I hope some day to paint something that looks like art rather than like a photo.  This painting was done in acrylics on canvas.

Yes, you are right.   Thank you for bringing it to my attention.   A friend sent a photo to me and I liked it so much I wanted to paint it.  I had no idea that it was a photo by Oer-Wout.  I visited his deviantart site and his web site and can not find the exact picture that I used, however it is clear that it must be his.  I have added a comment to the painting referencing Oer-Wout and I also sent him a note letting him know.  Thanks again.

Thank you.  I had a beautiful photo to use as a reference.  The fact that it looks (somewhat) real is a problem for me.  I am new to painting and I think I try too hard to make it look real.  What I really need to do is learn how to make it look like art.  That seems to be much more difficult.
