Description
Guess what? I'm finally learning how to make non-lowpoly models. Still ways to go, but I figured I could share my progress! Also, my game Supersonic Tank Cats is on Steam! I'll be more than happy if you want to see it.

Keep trying with it, you'll learn without noticing and it'll be worth it

Awesome. After seeing so many low poly commissions, I didn't expect to see this. Great work.

What wouldn't be adorable is the results of its biting!
Thanks! I can't wait either to finish this and see how it turns out!

Dragon-sculpting! Rawr!
Looks good so far. Any particular reason for the model color? I notice that color is used a lot for high-poly sculpting, and I'm curious if that's the default or if it's just considered a good color to make it all easier to see.

Oh, it's a matcap! Matcaps are little images of a sphere the program uses as a quick shorcut to make materials without actually using any light or textures, which is incredibly useful when sculpting. One of the most used matcaps is the one I'm using in this model, because it looks like clay and it's easy to know where's everything. I could use a highly reflective golden one, too, but that'd be chaos.

Ok, i got a couple questions so bear with me
If you had to rate Blender on ease of use, what would you rate it and why? I cant get Blender to do anything like this for me. Everything always comes out pointy and strange and I cant get the brushes to work like they're supposed to.
When you sculpt, do you use a mouse or a tablet? Im currently using a mouse.
Last one
How the hell do you make it look like not crap? Everything is so smooth and proportioned and round.
Ive tried dozens of tutorials and watched at least a hundred videos showing perfect sculpting and mapping and im over here like 'I made an oval '

Blender is surprisingly easy to use, even if it doesn't look like so! The problem with blender is that even though it's just a program, it does LOOOOOOTS of things, so if you try to learn how to use it for animation, modeling, materials, rendering, etc... you'll just get confused. Focus on modeling until you grasp that part of the program, then move to a different area. There are LOTS of parts of the program that I haven't touched yet, and that's saying something!
Also, the only method of making something not look crap that I know, is to spend time on it. Looks like crap? Tweak it. Still looks like crap? Tweak it again. Until it looks better or you feel the idea is fundamentally flawed and you need to start over. It happens to everybody so don't feel bad about it.
Oh, and everybody says a tablet is better, but I haven't tried mine for sculpting yet.

Blender is not the best tool for high poly sculpting. I use it for everything else though. If you want the best tool (that I know of) try Zbrush (but it's not free). Pixelogic - makers of zzbrush - also have a free sculpting software called Sculptris, but I have not actually tried that.

¡Por los santos píxeles! ¡Qué belleza modelo 3D! ¡Me fascina!
