Funny that the only extinct animals seen in Brother Bear were Mammoths, no Smilodons despite existing at the same time ever showed up.

You do have a point since there are theories that the one bear that absolutely no one can understand at the salmon thing is a short faced bear, so smilodon fatalis and dire wolves could be around in that world somewhere due to early humans staying away from smilodon and attempting to domsicate dire wolves and their smaller cousins, they grey.

Actually, the bears are of that period as we see mammaths, which were around during the Ice Age when this film takes place. So yeah, this may be a Smilodon or a Homotherium cat if you want biological accuracy.
