AP project 2.
General theme of love. Acrylic on canvas that's something like 2 by 4 feet. Took about a week of class time, and the weekend to complete. And the whole time, I complained that acrylic dries too slow, haha, which is a long shot from the people doing oil right now.

Sort of dedicated to the stranger I had a good talk with that gave me this idea: =SpatterArtist .

This is meant to be viewed from a little farther away, even though I obsessed over little details since I haven't painted traditionally in the summer, and got used to zooming in on the computer. But I guess it has a better outcome in the end. If you look at this from farther away, and squint your eyes if necessary, you should generally see a checker board pattern in the water (I, and many other people I asked see it, so don't tell me it's not there). I think I could've done it better, but I also think it'd be more obvious on calmer water with less white. When you compare the water in this picture to real waves and a real sea, you realize, you wouldn't wanna be there at all. Man, the storm above must be another Katrina. The boats are not Viking ships, as much as I like Vikings, they're just frontended with chess piece figures (Queen; a knight, represented by a horse like in my chess set, and the...tower things). And since you probably can't tell on the screen, the boats on one side (which are a different colour) have guys in them, and the other boats have women. I'll let you figure the rest out because I hate spoon-feeding an inactive brain.

I don't like the amount of white in this, I think that's my personal failure. I have a real hard time understanding highlights, since my brain doesn't register them properly.
